Forum Mafia 9

Day 2 Timer

Our game is currently full right now, but there's a good chance we will need replacements. PM Silhouette if you're interested for subbing in for someone. You will then be put on a queue.

Note: Some changes have been made to the rules and role descriptions, particularly about supermajority lynches. Please familiarize yourself with them. Role description changes may or may not reflect actual roles in the game and were made for the sake of filling holes/clarity.

I. The Schedule:

36 hours per day, 12 hours per night

Day 1 begins at 11 am EST September 19th.

II. The Setup:

 • Normal closed roles setup, as always, with the roles and affixes listed below. Any role can be town or mafia, and have any number of affixes.
 • By default there are no Night 1 actions, including the mafia kill.
 • By default no role can self visit, except watcher.
 • Players who share a meeting may communicate outside the game at any time of day.
 • Players are always notified at day start if their role is changed.
 • One mafia always leads the kill, and it's always the one that submits the kill last. Each mafia will visit the kill target.
 • On death, players flip their role, alignment and affix type by default, but not their affix details.

III. Supermajority Lynch Rules:

 • A lynch will happen immediately if a supermajority vote is reached. (e.g. 9/16)
 • At end of day, "No votes" count as "no one" votes, but will not count towards a mid-day supermajority vote of "no one". The player with the most votes at that end of day, (including "no one") will be lynched.
 • Days can be ended early without a lynch by a supermajority "no one" vote.

IV. Roles/Affixes: We apologize, but the topic got too long, so possible roles and affixes are linked here.

V. Voting:

If you want to vote, use this " vote: player name "

If you want to unvote, use this " unvote: playername "

A VOTE THAT IS NOT BOLDED WILL NOT BE COUNTED

VI. Voting Log:

We're using a new vote log for this game. Details of it can be seen here

VII. The Rules:

Alright, to everyone in the game: after careful deliberation, I think that on both of our parts, modkilling Flex was a bit too harsh. I slightly think we were a little bit justified so it wasn't just a grudge kill or anything. Sorry about that whole fiasco and for this kind of setting I don't think using a supermajority rule is a good idea. I may take a stab trying again because I think other than the modkill I did good at hosting.

There's literally no justification for the Flex modkill. Mod kills are to make the game a smoother experience for the players - Flex was not hindering anyone's playing experience.

Forum mafia isn't a rules intensive cluster**** like ranked play is on EM. It's a (generally) slower paced platform for one to enjoy mafia as an analytical game.

I've hosted 17 freaking forum mafia games and I've mod killed 0 people. Granted, I did abandon one of those games when the work load got too hectic, but that's more because I'm an idiot and made the game that complex to start off with, not because anyone was causing an issue.

It's too bad, too. We were on track to a flawless town victory. I was going to orc Arcbell.

nah. imo Katie and I were hosting really good, even though our hosting styles were completely different. Game didn't flop because of our hosting, it's because someone decided to be a bad*** and break the rules

People who die don't automatically leak unless you give them a reason to.

That's abysmal reasoning.

The game was already ruined at that point via a pointless modkill.

That's like saying you should stop imprisoning people in order to reduce prison breakouts.

That is a terrible analogy.

Why'd she get mod-killed, something over posting past a majority or something? Hardly very serious.

Actually forum mafia fairly regularly blows up and it's only prudent not to be lopping off participants heads over every little slight, and especially if one of said participants might have reason to feel they were being treated as such for personal reasons or whatever. Also, it's pretty well-established that treating prisoners well aids rehabilitation/reduces recidivism, so ...

All told, a lot of time probably got wasted here that needn't have been wasted. Allison's as well as everyone else's. Hurr, stop imprisoning people.
