What if "Designates someone during mafia meetings, if that person were to be lynched. The scapegoat and the target swap places, names and roles." Eg Boar is lynched, Peniw scapegoated boar, Peniw dies instead, appears as Boar. Boar gets to keep his role"

This would allow some interesting "Guise" tactics and actually scape-goat to protect the more important mafia roles.

I don't think it would be over-powered since it is like a role being janitored in the sense because you don't know what role is missing and who is lying, with the scapegoat it will just be the people who cc'ed whatever role the scapegoat has selected that will be in question of being fake.

He doesn't take the players role he picks, he just appears as the selected role when he dies

There are mafia rules that don't go mafia meeting, mafia just needs to note there's a mafia role that doesn't join meeting. I don't know if this is what u pretend, but this would be fun: - He doesn't join mafia chat, but anonymously joins the vote. - If mafia votes him, he can't warn them, but then instead of dying he gets his target role. - Since he doesn't have any privileged info of who mafia is, he can safely become townie with any role. - He can become any 3rd party role, or even target a mafia and get his role, remaining mafia. - His identity doesn't change. | Working like this he could be a traitor, for exemple leaving mafia if mafia is losing, he could target somebody that claimed a role. But it would require the player to be very good to know how to act as the new role demands, would be trouble if player is trolling, and would be very gamethrowing prone if player is noob and outs his change or his group mates in case of becoming mason, cult, etc.

Also, I don't understand. If he changes his role, as Amnesiac does, he doesn't die at all, so why would mafia kill him? If he acts as disguiser (taking that person's name too), his target must be killed by mafia, not him. But if he keeps his identity and just change role, what'd happen if he targets a cop for exemple? would he change his side? in that case he'd be too powerful being village knowing who's mafia, but if not, many village roles have powers that don't fit mafia. And what if he targets a cult for exemple, would he be culted? If he targets vig, would he have his own killing turn? that'd be too powerful for the group he sides, he'd need to become a killer to be balanced.

Godfather + Disguiser together? It seems too powerful, would make a big fool on town. I see no town role to match him in power, to balance would require a bigger number of townies, but then mafia would suffer if he was lost by vig or cult for exemple.

I'd thought he'd attend mafia meetings otherwise if mafia lynch him without knowing he is mafia it would just confuse them and potentially ruin the game. My fault for not writing it on there.
