You play competitive game and as sheriff your aim is to defeat mafia. Your gun was supposed to be shot for the purpose of town win, therefore shooting mafia. Instead of shooting for the mafia, you shot the player who irritated you. This is not how you play competitive mafia. You must refrain from shooting people you don't like and play for your win condition.
