since you seem absolutely unwilling to remove the word filter, here's a monetizing solution you could employ: 10 tokens for a language and caps filter option.
Now you have incentive to remove the restrictive code, and those that really care about that shi t will invariably end up paying for it (less sulking on the forums too)
And tbh, I was really let-down by that "well if you want to say it, tape yourself saying it to your mother." comment. It came off as really defensive and immature.
Alright, then *you* tape yourself telling your mother "f*ck you" as that is also not censored.
Stick to censoring actual slurs (racial, homophobic, religious, ect).
It is 2018. Most English speakers are not offended by the word c*nt. I honestly find it being censored absolutely ridiculous. In most of the english speaking word, it does not carry and serious connotations. Especially in Oceania (as well as Scotland and England and Ireland... oh I kinda just named most of the english speaking world...) it's used actually very casually. I think this "*gasp* that is the worst thing you could ever call a woman," is honestly a 1950s-ish American idea. Even in most of the US population, there is not the same connotation of the word that existed in pre 1970s. In Mr. Robot, the USA network let them say "c*nty" before they let them drop the F-bomb uncensored. A network TV channel thinks the C word is less controversial than the F word in the US.
C*nt can be something you call your friends. C*nt can be a noun (p*ssy is not censored, mind you). This censor is very here-and-there and inconsistent. And it's inconsistancy is why so many people have an issue with it being turned from a "racial slur filter" (as it is incorrectly called) into a "swear filter" which it is. Because, it work's alright as a slur filter, but it completely fails as a swear filter.
You can say "Pull your c*ck out of me and suck the c*m out of my a*shole you f*cking w*hore" but you cannot say D*ck Cheney. Do you see how the filter fails?
In all actuality, the currently uncensored word, w*ore, is much worse than c*nt. C*nt just means "mean lady." W*ore on the other hand has very real and misogynistic connotations about women and their sexuality and how a woman uses her sexuality, and her very value as a woman.
That is why I hate the arbitrary swears that ended up in this filter. They feel half-assedly chosen. It feels "fake-woke."
oh well i guess i'll just see myself out then. peace!

Can you let me use gay slurs about myself again
bottoms aren't allowed in this forum

just unban these words:
d`ick sh`it cu`nt b`itch
no one cares about these. Slurs are fine to be filtered. Spiritualized has a good point about racism and stuff being moderated badly here but word on the street is you think your racism rule is good enough and won't go further
you're not getting cunt back i'm sorry but the crusade dies here
Are you saying if that setting was created, you'd blacklist everything but GnH and classic in main lobby? That's a bit of a stretch. I don't think main lobby would ever use that setting, but other people's lobbies might.
Any setup should be available in either main, sandbox or vivor as the stickied lobbies. Reverse was already a lobby after it was blacklisted so people could play ranked there, but having any setup available unranked shouldn't be restricted and have people go to custom lobbies to be able to play.
You mentioned a lobby-specific setting, so I'll ask about something similar here.
Could you add a setting that makes only certain setups available in a lobby? This will allow for things like... a reverse mafia lobby, a *true* sandbox lobby, a 3rd party lobby, and also for me to abuse the fact that people can only play my setups in my lobby. ;)

huh so like a quick option for people who aren't registered and with no impact on pre-existing lobbies? fairly cool concept. could also be good in that it would limit the amount of people who make accounts for one-off games and abandon them and would be useful if it included games lobby games too, instead of just maf.
when you're back, definitely want to hear more on that idea about making it so that you can create a game without being logged in because while the functionality seems convenient on the surface, it's also probably just more of a resource for people like james who will come back at random to disrupt the site's usability for fun by creating games that block the lobby, etc. (dude will log in, make a 1k person game that makes the entire lobby unclickable, and continue to do so for hours at a time - i think making this easier for him is ultimately not a great idea unless you're planning to set it up a certain way that would impose limitations on what's being created.)
re: mentoring quick fixes, putting my head together with giga and whoever else i can connect with in the program to hopefully get some ideas on the table.
it'll be private games with their own generated private links, there will be no lobbies. Click and go kinda thing
Sounds good, push for your ideas! I'm just one guy and it's hard to keep track lol..
The mentoring team will work on a pastebin of our ideas and give it to you within 2-3 days. It's important to take the time as a team to discuss and find the issues and report them to you clearly and concisely so that the communication is clear and smooth. We wouldn't want to rush anything and forget or leave out something important haha
