Christianity is the Truth, and every other belief system is false. If you can prove otherwise. I'd be glad to hear it :D
Freewill proves that we have souls.
According to Naturalism (All that exists is the material world):
A) We are matter in motion.
B) Matter banging into Matter has no moral signifigance.
C) Morality doesn't exist.
Why I believe (A designer) God exists:
A) Something cannot come from nothing. (The universe.)
B) Intelligence cannot come from unintelligence.
C) Life cannot come from non-life. (Abiogenesis)
D) Order cannot come from Chaos. (Shaking a box won't make a clock.)
E) Evidence of design all around us. (I.e Genetic CODE, puppies who have two eyes - symmetrical faces - obvious design patterns, every creature has a function and a form, we aren't malformed randomness (think spore but worse))
I believe salvation is by Grace, not by merit.
Meaning we are forgiven, not paid what we deserve.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
Feel free to ask me any questions you like, I will try my best to answer them, and other people can answer questions too! =)
Poll
Who draws the line in the sand between right and wrong? (Define's morality for everyone.)
basically, you can start your christian debate topics, but as soon as you stray into preaching about groups of people being wrong for the way your god made them, you're done.
> MisterPresident: Like let's say you get into a car accident and die
> Is it faster than a blink and you dont even realize you died?
Good question. I dunno XD.
> If there was no God then theoretically the world revolves around you and nothing or no one else matters. People will argue that "well I mean you can have an impact on others" but who cares. Your world would be over forever and you would never feel or know again
Well I would go even further then that. If there is no God, we are simply matter in motion.
But you make very good points. It's odd to think about a univerese in which we would never feel, or know again.
If you love someone you will tell the the truth even if they don't like it.
Homosexuality is self harm. Both mental and physical, the suicide attempt rate is close to 40% and anal tears are dangerous and unhealthy. It knocks average of 20 years off life expectancy.
> MisterPresident: What do you think of the death penalty/a justice system able to judge and punish others severely?
A just death penalty is fine (Rapists, Serial Killers etc.), unjust punishments are not. I.e death penalty for stealing a candy bar.
Paul himself was willing to accept a death penalty if he commited a crime worthy of it.
*Acts 25:10–11*
10 But Paul said, “I am standing before Caesar’s tribunal, where I ought to be tried. I have done no wrong to the Jews, as you also very well know. 11 “If, then, I am a wrongdoer and have committed anything worthy of death, I do not refuse to die; but if none of those things is true of which these men accuse me, no one can hand me over to them. I appeal to Caesar.”
>Is it God's will for that person to die by the hand of man?
God's will is that justice be done. On Earth we sometimes have criminals in the courts, corrupt judges and lawyers, imperfect human justice.
When justice isn't served on Earth, God will deal with it in the afterlife.
*Romans 12:19* Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but leave room for God’s wrath. For it is written: “Vengeance is Mine; I will repay, says the Lord.”
> What becomes of the man responsible for executing the criminal if it actually is God's will? That man committed murder
If you execute someone who commited a crime worthy of the death penalty, it is not murder. It is justice.
Their blood is on their own heads.
i.e Child Sacrifice would result in the death penalty in Israel.
Leviticus 20:2 “Say to the Israelites: ‘Any Israelite or any foreigner residing in Israel who sacrifices any of his children to Molek is to be put to death. The members of the community are to stone him.
I always think about this deep moment when people die suddenly
Like let's say you get into a car accident and die
Is it faster than a blink and you dont even realize you died? What effect does time have on this process of instantaneous disconnection from the physician realm?
I feel like if I was going to die in an instant, I wouldn't be in the current moment, but rather I'd have always been dead
If there was no God then theoretically the world revolves around you and nothing or no one else matters. People will argue that "well I mean you can have an impact on others" but who cares. Your world would be over forever and you would never feel or know again
By 2100 there will be less than 1% religion people in the United States because people have the critical thinking required to determine that there is no afterlife. The reason being that parents would be the millennials and Gen Z of today's world and most of them are straying after form religion and their parents did not shove it down their throats effectively enough like their parents did. The numbers are already drastically decreasing and that's all the proof you need.
yes mathematical laws require no force at all ? four space rocks plus two space rocks is always six space rocks (unless they collide n fracture or something). they do not cause the universe. energy gradients cause the universe
Not entirely sure, our brains could function as computers with chemicals giving us emotions for all I know, it could possibly not be free-will, just something close to it.
see you keep trying to argue matters of a ginormous universe with very very human-specific concepts. it just doesn't work. earth next to the whole universe is so miniscule and tiny that it basically rounds to 0% of everything
