do you ever think when you type???? the round lasts 10 days max, the worst that can happen if you veg hearts is you miss out on a 10 day run that you can start over. not only that - hearts can be played on the next day (5 + 5). If the player didnt play his hearts for full 24 hours, chances are he does not care about the current run. this is the dumbest reason to pause the round, it pisses off 95% of the players while you try to please the 5%. demod the idiots who keep pausing rounds for this stupid reason.

Being banned is more like being in a timeout corner. You can sit there quietly and wait your time or get up and walk away but be sent back with time added.
Here's the counter argument to not dedicating your life to running. You want a fair competition? The way comp runs is like a race, hit 2k first and win. They don't just stop races and have everyone start at the time exactly where they left off.
Also you saying he's banned he can't run is pretty much you saying don't complain, it doesn't affect you. For all you know the guy can be bypassing and playing, so many people bypass and never get caught and some are almost public about it!!

the defense has been stated multiple times in this thread, but ill quote it just for you:
there's plenty of reasons why the site should be paused when it's down, especially because it was down for about a total of 15 hours on and off since the heart refresh.
we don't think that "you should dedicate your whole life to running and therefore this shouldn't affect you" is a reasonable solution.
i mean the big thing here is that this is a problem unlikely to happen in the future (although with lucid who knows lmao) so he isn't affected, and will likely never be affected by this issue. he has no reason to argue this other than to stir shite up, that's the issue, but im not trying to say being banned is like a prison sentence where u lose your right to vote, you know

All I took from the defense was "you're banned so you don't have a voice". As someone who's both banned but hardly ever gets a vio when reported I want to say this leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I could argue the following: I know the rules more than half the mod team. Enough to not only break them and not get caught unless I admit to it but also bend them in my favor. Tempted to come out of retirement when unbanned and start helping people defend themselves in their reports.
The scariest part about p-hacking and other methods of bias in studies is that they even happen in the medical field.
How comforting is it to know that pharmaceutical studies are being conducted in a not-so-safe way? These researchers are looking for esteemed publishers so they mess with the results.
