Just want to give a special thanks to Borrach for helping out judging, it has been a very busy week for everyone and instead of having no judge points this was the solution I found.

Hello guys first of all I want to apologize for the late response, some things happened irl and it delayed, but I took into consideration your responses and opinions. This round is still proceeding as regular voting comes out today and goes until mid tomorrow.

Now as for your feedback I decided to extend the submission deadlines, so normally you would get the theme sunday to be ready for the next sunday, and have 2 days of cap (monday and tuesday). Now it is going to be from sunday to wednesday with no cap, leaving thursday for a 24 hrs late submission day and Friday and Saturday for the voting.

Rounds will come in advance so in order to achieve that, the two most voted rounds are going to be the round 5 and round 6 themes. Remember you don’t need to submit every round. If you want to step aside one, two weeks is fine, it is a long competition but we also want everyone to have fun.

Thank so much for everyone’s understanding.

Now voting is available here:

*I will add the rest of the songs/artists after, sorry i’m still at work writing this.

Thanks for your feedback guys! You indeed make good points. We will make some adjustments, Natacha should be chiming in with an update tomorrow.

Whatever allows for maximum participation is what would interest me the most. If that means longer deadlines then that's ok with me.

This! That's basically my point as well. I also think it's a good idea to separate the theme voting from the contestant voting. Maybe we can be voting for the next round's theme DURING the week we are recording for this week's theme. Then we'd have a theme picked by the time the week is done and have more time to work on the next theme. If that makes sense...

But like I said, whatever gets us the most participation is what interests me above all else. I want to hear these beautiful people sing god dammit

Or even overlapping the judging of the previous rounds with the announcement of the next rounds theme so you can have people working on their next song while they wait for the judges. Whatever works.

I'd like to voice support for this idea. My one complaint about pace has mostly just been that I feel like we've had a little more waiting around than is necessary, and this would help to address that while also potentially giving people more time. I don't think we necessarily need to spend the entire voting process not being able to work on the next entry, but that's just me.

Yeah 3-4 minutes its extremely theoretical for the reasons natacha stated. Also who said the music has to shine :thonk:, music can help you shine

Why does the music have to shine instead of me?

Isnt it a singing competition and not a musical competition?

Or... Just A capella while recording on vocaroo and then c/p the link.
over 6 years
Yeah, I usually have to record it, then mix it with the instrumentals, then upload it. All of this while focusing on real life stuff as well.

Come on guys, you don't need to give up just yet. It takes only 3-4 minutes to sing a song, and this competition is for fun.

It takes a bit longer than that... You are forgetting what comes before and after the recording that area also time consuming..

Before:
You must pick a song matching the theme;
You rehearse the song and keep doing it;

You record it

After:
Some people edit the songs, you might don't like the initial recording therefore you record again or maybe you even change your mind during your progress...

This happens and we can't forget about life, work, uni school, family...

Option number one:
We take a break on the contest for now and we restart in beginning of June (or another arranged date) We all would have time to sort things.
(Of course people that already submit can resubmit even a different song!)

Option two:
We move on and continue the show, maybe with bigger deadlines instead of a week.

I like option two.

They said it would be ten weeks and we signed up for that. Moving it to June isn't a time we signed up for, so you may end up having even more people go MIA. And then you have to have them drop out and fill those slots, and by that point the game is nothing like the one you put together at the beginning of the season.

Extending the deadline sounds good, but it is a two-edged sword, you need audience votes to keep the thing working. The longer you go between rounds, the bigger drop off in the number of audience members following it week to week. So you can't extend it TOO much more than it already is.

But one week to record goes by a lot quicker than you'd think. I think 10 days is reasonable. Or even overlapping the judging of the previous rounds with the announcement of the next rounds theme so you can have people working on their next song while they wait for the judges. Whatever works.

SteelixMega says

make it an elimination contest so people feel more inclined to be competitive

No, that's not what we signed up for. And it wouldn't fix the issue anyways. We all signed up because we wanted to. Making it competitive won't magically make people decide that a silly internet karaoke game should be a bigger priority in their lives.

coolkidrox123 is just stating her view like everyone else has. we're gonna need a collective opinion, some of the other contestants haven't even had their own say. consideration isn't only thinking about those that are super busy and want to drop out, it's also thinking of those that have the time now and don't want to wait till later when they might lose interest or not have the time to continue, it has to go both ways. we're aiming to find a middle ground to make as many people content as possible.
over 6 years
But its not about about just you, obviously others have to drop out because we have other things going on in our lives. Some of us aren't here everyday. We gotta be considerate of others or you'll be the only one playing.

I say move on!
