I doubt if there's an afterlife, or a God. My view is that we're rationalizing creatures at our cores; we come up with ways to rationalize why one should do such and such, so there's where religions come up. To us, it's more logical to do something because some superior entity requires us to do so than to just do it, especially if we never found said thing to benefit us.
You probably heard of the id-ego-superego concept, so that's what I would comment about the other question. Desires aren't inherently bad or good, per se; they're just considered whether they fit the certain status quo that we came up with. I mean, we won't really bat an eye to an animal killing another, or us killing animals for food, but when a human kills another, we send the murderer to jail or to the gallows. So that's what I can think of rn. Views might change but hey

do you think there is an afterlife? do you think there is a god? do you think god decides whether or not we have a good afterlife? why does he get to judge
so this doesnt turn into a boring yes or no, if you DONT believe in god or the afterlife :
do you think you are a good or bad person? do you think humans are born selfish or good or neither? can a person truly be a Good or Bad person? who gets to decide
