But, not really. More like, how to make better guesses.
So recently I'd been accused of "hacking" a couple of times with the frequency I'm able to hit mafia on d1 as a gunned role with almost nothing to implicate them, and actually I'd like to clarify and explain how I manage to do this semi-frequently. It doesn't always work, but apparently its been frequent enough for people to suspect me of exploiting the game.
None of these tips are fool-proof, you're definitely going to accidentally it town, but these can often lead you to common sense conclusions that can give you a better idea of who mafia is within a game. Most of these tips I actually learned via older guides on the EM forums, and I'll look for these later to link as they were good references for doing better "Scumhunting"
1) The first person to talk D1 is oftentimes mafia. This is because the mafia are usually already talking with eachother during the night, and are ready to speak almost immediately when day starts. If you find two people talk almost immediately when day starts, try aiming for the person whos post contributes less to the discussion.
2) People who talk a lot, but say very little. By this, I mean people who are actually talking in chat, but nothing they're saying is moving the game forward. They're usually cracking jokes, saying "RIP" or other things that don't help pinpoint who the mafia could be.
3) People who try to lead, without being cleared as a town role at all. These people are the opposites of the type who talk a lot, without saying much. They're actively pointing fingers and switching votes often, hoping people will follow their lead. Call them out as leading as uncleared, and they will almost always switch to you.
4) People who accuse MrMongrel of being mafia. NO WAY JOSE! Everyone knows that MrMongrel is a confirmed PRO SCUMHUNTER and NEVER mafsides!
I hope this late night drunk advice helped provide some useful insight that I'm sure some veteran players will come in here to announce they already knew. Theres plenty more good scumtells, and if you have any to contribute, please post them below
