Yea if afk coasting as blue is superior than being invested in outcomes. The only time I expect to lose a game is if I'm playing and someone knows me as Zovea. Any other time I can sum up a day into a few lines and guess and still coast.
There is a clear lack of good players since this game is rarely played rationally. Pointfarming isn't going to breed players invested in personal success. You didn't come up in it, so you don't understand how mediocre it makes you. There was a reason you guys weren't in my league when I came back in '11 and it was because you guys were too busy sucking off how well you read each other to compete against each other. It's a shame that breaking that up tore a whole in how you guys interacted with each other, but my point is that there aren't enough people trying to compete or improve for you to claim that we can't compare eras
This is dumb. Sweep every round and make them suspend you from them like PE and Max. Your skills are worthless if you're not drawling players to you. If you can't run, someone else should be running using your talents.
not to brag but even without the cheating, i went like 2/2 in scumreads in like every game i played on vraxo. i reached perfection on vraxo .. i rly did.

i have the joint-second most trophies on this site.
if u mean after my unban, then it's impossible for me to trophy bc i'm trophy banned. i decayed hearts in the last 2 rounds and in round 559 (the round i did worst in out of the 3 rounds) i wouldve won bronze since achiee cheated (https://epicmafia.com/report/225426 & https://epicmafia.com/report/226258 )
I mean I do think there's more variance within the top tier than you give credit for but by and large you're correct. Agree with like, 99% of that post.
(It simply doesn't matter because there aren't enough players in the top tier for the extra skill to make a difference win % wise, because as you said there are those soft upper/lower bounds. You'd need to shift the average skill level of the whole player base upwards to tell the difference)

Around 40% of all games you play, you'll lose.
Around 40% of all games you play, you'll win.
Your skill is determined in the remaining 20% which is why most mediocre players hover around 50%, bad players hover around the low 40's, and the top top tier players hover around the high 50's.
There's a skill cap to mafia. It's impossible to win every game. You can't out towntell everyone. You can't go 3/3 in every game that requires you to play perfectly. The widely regarded "best mafia players" have all made plenty of mistakes. There's a small, very high tier that a player can reach and when you reach that point, you're no better than anyone else in it. Most of the old players mentioned reached it, along with players from today, like gerry, jeff, soda, efc. If you disagree nobody cares ur a pûssy anyway
I don't value stats much, and value trophies 0, I'm a big fan of the eyetest and just doing your own subjective evaluation.
The skills are really diverse though and the other players matter just as much as yourself. What I think makes it great is how you continually try to expand your game to account for every possible player and every possible action.
There's never objectivity, but I don't think skill is wholly undiscernable either.

you are definitely the most entertaining and unorthodox player i've ever seen and that matters more to me than the banal adherence to meta showcased by most trophy winners

being "great" at mafia always felt like a really weird thing to proclaim too, because there's really no standard to apply to a player to decide how good anyone is
someone could have a huge winrate and tons of trophies but it could be the result of cheating or being thrown for
another player could have some really great reads but lose all the time due to just how they act in game
I think there's a lot of qualities that come into play when you start discussing how "good" anyone is at mafia and at the end of the day trying to rank things is too theorycrafty for my tastes, it's just not like other games where you can view things in a fairly objective light
mafia is just too subjective

I don't think I'm that good, but I appreciate the compliment though
there's a few players that I think are great that don't really get credit, off of the top of my head
Prayag FaZ Soluciones Stiffy
they've all gotten multiple trophies in the last year except for maybe Soluciones
I'm not going to sit here and give a comprehensive list just to listen to you go "BUT GERRY IS NOWHERE NEAR AS GOOD AS 2011-CONNOR BAH GAWD" when yes he's that good and then some.
Any year-Maxwell, 2011-Crypto, 2014-Connor and 2015-me still roll most of them, but no duh. We're top-10 all timers who were in our peaks. The average level is fine and there's never been a lack of pretty good players. I've been here straight through and it's not like I've become a worse player.
People are just as stupid and just as competent as ever. Random comp player hammers me when I'm obviously town, oh no, back in 2011 SGR hammered me when I was mechanically clear and both me/Crypto tried for 40 minutes to explain it to him.
