is it just me or has activity in survivor lobby skyrocketed compared to the last few years? while the rest of the website seems to be lacking this place just keeps growing
why do you think that is? why are you attracted to this part of the website and not the rest?
Summer. This lobby gets 10x more popular in the summer. Because people can stay up late. Happens every year without fail. We're definitely still growing at large, though.

survivor is also really diverse and it's fun to come up with new ideas and gamemodes and it's relatively simple to go about executing those ideas, whereas getting people to play new setups in sandbox is like gouging your eyes out with a spoon. i don't have much experience in main anymore but from what i understand the comp setups also get really repetitive.
the owner and moderation team are also really lovely and approachable. this is a lobby that mostly self-moderates and they do a fine job of it. it helps to have someone in charge that's trustworthy and cares about the opinions of the userbase :-)
The reason people stick around is there's always something new in the games and there's an urge to win and people actually can use brains!
On the other hands red heart games in main lobby have become cancerous and have same stuff all over again and again (let's not even talk about how cancerous comp games are!)
People look down upon newbies in other lobbies which is not the case on here. And obviously last but not the least 99.99% people here don't feel the need to cheat for some trophy or win which keeps it more loved.
The reason is that this lobby has a monopoly in its little niche! There's demand for "quick", pick-up, survivor games with nicely formatted challenges and an easy to use interface, and the other online competitors are so awful (Zwooper) as to be almost non-existent. If someone ever codes a good-looking well-functioning automated Survivor website, this lobby will have a tough time expanding although its community will always give it some appeal.
The mafia side of epicmafia has to deal with a slew legitimate competitors - Town of Salem is the big one, and it has had a lot more exposure via youtubers and a steam release. ToS has siphoned up new mafia players and epicmafia's hypercompetitive nature also raises a barrier to entry for newcomers, compounding the problem. Epicmafia doesn't have a monopoly on good mafia games like we do on good non-org survivor games.
Right now, Lucid has unintentionally programmed one of the best interfaces for Survivor and our community has ran with it, leading us to be a magnet for new players who can't find anywhere else to go.
This lobby has a solid base of newcomers coming in from other Survivor communities and from Reddit. Plus, it's addictive so it keeps people coming back.
I feel like the community over here is less aids and more diverse too, but I think what makes people stick around is how fun survivor-related games are.
We had an influx of Survivor Redditors when some of the games were being advertised there, which also explains the amount of Survivor games skyrocketing over other games ^~^
