It is really a double edged sword in my opinion but that is only my opinion and should be taken as such.

Actually, I answered hastily. I am of the opinion that any knowledge that benefits the advancement of mankind scientifically is a step in the right direction. Conversely, I feel if we do not see some kind of drastic decline in the population in the near future as a result of man-made or natural causes our species is doomed to failure. Stem cell research only furthers our preventive health measures and I feel that will have an adverse affect on our planets environmental stability given the obvious recent trends.
