(NOTE I have sloppy wording if you need any clarifications I'll be happy to reiterate.)

hey lucid would you be interested in this

yesterday a user named "KillAll(N-slurs)" joined epic mafia on 10 different accounts spamming racial slurs as well as having a picture of a cut up black person on their profiles. While a site mod got on soon enough to clear the content, neither sandbox mods or site mods were on to take care of it. This isn't blaming them as no one can actively watch the site all day long, but offering a solution to the lack of immediate responses from mods.

My pitch is what I call Mod Watch for the lack of a better name.

It's very simple; an external chatbox that can be accessed in games or on any other page of EM. Simply put, it's a chatbox-mentor chat cross that site mods and sandbox mods can view, and so if there's any OPI'ing or p*rn being posted or anything that needs immediate attention(NOT game-related violations), then people can pull it up and contact a mod like sort of a mentor chatbox.

Any mods can view what's posted, but you need to be a mod to see what's posted(so you can't just look at a list of drama links, or try to communicate with other users in-game and cheat).

Having this and having it make a little sound or something when someone posts in it would be extremely useful to mods willing to use it, because they can actually stop users before any damage is done, instead of taking care of reports anywhere from 5 minutes to a few hours later, depending on who's online.

I'm guessing just a little button on the left bottom of the screen, that you need to play at least 5 games to access would be fair.

(Also let mods mute people in it in case someone does start spamming, or add another filter)

Would you consider adding this?

Most moderators would probbably do anything to have LESS work toward anything.

Too bad if they got mod just for the aesthetics or bragging rights they can quit

The more moderators have the power to change things, the more people we have to worry and complain against. And also more people will be able to possibly break rules in the future (mods)

what was the slur account in the op I can't figure it out

id use this every time someone hurt my feelings on, or off site.

even if it's mildly inconvenient, and more burden rests on site mod, i think most of the other site mods would agree to shoulder that burden to help the communities out. there are benefits to lobby mods having access to these tools, but yeah, cons and all.

Take a look at this game:
https://epicmafia.com/game/5684316

Blatant HC, multi-accounting, impersonation (over half the users), and this was up for at least 3 hours until the game filled and no one took it down.

I didn't say main lobby bc I thought that came naturally.

Besides site mods are basically main lobby mods with authority over the other lobbies, every lobby governs itself unless a site mod swoops in with a verdict if things get outta hand

I'm not gonna really argue for giving Mod watch to sandbox mods bc I agree with you now's all I'm sayin, just that it would be more convenient for lobby mods if added, but considering your posts I do feel the cons outweigh the pro

i feel as though main lobby, as well as survivor, have high enough playerbases to worry about this as well.

and it's just a lot simpler for site mods to have access to this power imo, it cuts out a lot of the issues of trust in lobby mods, the restrictions on lobby mod power, etc while making sure site mods are aware of situations in all lobbies.

and yeah, add site mods on skype if you want. you already know mine. lol.

I say sandbox only because it's the only other lobby with high enough userbase for there to be actual trouble.

Although if the risk is that high I'll respect the counter-argument, just sticking to adding them on Skype or Discord or Steam will have to do I suppose

morgan beat me to it, but yeah. i feel as though site mods having this is useful, but handing it out to lobby mods in general feels open to exploitation.

lobby mods don't need this, but would be useful for site mods.

Unless if it's a pain in the butt to code I would recommend it be a feature for sandbox mods, too.

nah.

sandbox mods, nor any lobby mod in general, need access to this kind of tool; anything that a lobby mod can do, a site mod can do with a greater range of tools to handle the situation.

lobby mods cannot remove content from someone's profile, remove their avatars, ip ban them, and so forth. if a user were to message someone with this system, and not realize it was only a lobby mod they were messaging, they would most likely wonder why said theoretically rule-breaking user was able to come back with multiple accounts, without sandbox (or any lobby) being able to do more than that.

furthermore, it makes little sense to limit it to sandbox; why not just lobby mods in general? however, that creates an issue in that people would just make personal lobbies for the purpose of lobby modding users to have access to this system to see what has been posted. but if you limit it to only the "main four" lobbies, you also have to deal with the issue of personal, yet important, custom lobbies (such as dangan mafia) wondering why they don't have access to the same tools.

morgan and i discussed this. i think we agree on the fact that the best way to implement this without it being exploited, while still being a useful tool, is to create a ticket system (look into world of warcraft's ticket system for reference) that provides a noticeable popup/notification immediately for all site mods. something with a distinct noise, and something you don't have to refresh to see, such as a pm. that way, the people who have the highest amount of power and responsibility to deal with this will be able to see any issue, in any lobby that requests help, and help the users in question handle what the issue is.

can i say fagot without getting banned

I think a good way to work it would be like Game Master Tickets in World of Warcraft. Players can only file one at once, they request the help of a moderator, describing the situation briefly. If any mods are online, a sound alert plays to notify them (perhaps like being pinged in a game, but not the exact same sound). If a mod answers a ticket, no other mod can answer that ticket and a dedicated chat window (like lobby chat mixed with the mentor popup chat) appears where the mod and user can go through the problem together to get it fixed.

Yeah, when writing this I thought that would be the biggest issue, alt spamming the chat.

If I said people would have to ask to be added to Mod watch it would become something like YouTube heroes so let's avoid that

I think if anything there needs to be stricter rules (or maybe adjustable rules) on who can use that chat because banned users making 50 alts and then spamming it up all at once wouldn't be a fun time.

This would be a very useful feature, and at the moment the mods are talking to lucid about adding some more moderation-based features, so I'll mention this there.

KillAll(N-slurs) did nothing wrong.

TL;DR a chatbox that you can link mods to high-level rules being broken for immediate assistance

Also gonna PM this to Lucid soon if anyone wants to pitch anything in
