Had some downtime...
So recently there have been several threads about why site meta is the way it is or what makes something alignment indicative etc. Being the good mafia player that you are since you actually read the forums, you have to ask yourself how risky you want to be in any particular game. If it is filled with noobs then fakeclaiming cop as town or fakeclaiming orc to out the orc is going to get you lynched because certain people just play one way. "Why did you wait an extra 3 seconds to claim cop? Must be fake." If the game is filled with better players then you can try different strategies because you won't get automatically scumread for it. When in Rome.....
That being said, it's not always a great idea to go against site meta just to go against site meta and prove everyone wrong IF YOU ARE ACTUALLY TRYING TO WIN THE GAME. You are just making the game harder on yourself. If everyone claims with name -> alignment then don't put yourself in an uphill battle. The site meta is the way it is for a certain reason. It became site meta because of a certain pattern people noticed etc.
I see people saying stuff like "x isn't alignment indicative" "y isn't alignment indicative." Well........ SOMETHING HAS to be alignment indicative right? There HAS to be some way for people to read other people right? When we say "indicative" it doesn't mean a hard and fast rule, it's just referring to something that makes you more likely to be one alignment over another.
Basically, Know Your Audience + Don't Fight Site Meta to increase your chances of winning. Linker made a good point in the other thread so I will paste it here:
"I bet you can frame with above 60% accuracy using cheap methods like vote pattern, report order, etc; 60% being more accurate than the average player, which is, btw, winning below 50%, which is what a dice would. Just for making my point, 60% accurate reads do in fact translate into somewhere between 55% and 65% wins up to setup ( flipping mafia, etc. - and I bet you could meta what doesn't get you hammered ) - Which would mean a trophy in 97 out of the last 100 rounds."
Conclusion: Use the site meta to your advantage by being aware of it and following it when you need to depending on the table you are on regardless of you being the one who is claiming cop or being the one who has to judge a cop claim that claimed with "alignment --> name." The slight 1-3% boost you receive in your winrate by not putting yourself in uphill battles will go a long way for your in your ultimate goal of becoming brownpimp.
