And yes, capitalism causes some to suffer, certainly in this economic crisis Americans face today. Go communism, the vision of the future

If, and only if, robots can take over the human manufacturing world then there will be no need to have a capitalistic society. Humans will live a life of luxury as enough things can be produced to sustain all life. Some will turn to virtual reality to pass time, others hypersleep, and others to roam the lands freely
And once that point comes communism will be the only sensible solution. To reach a point that humans need not work is to reach the point that we hold each other up by social standards, not economic ones
the flaw with communism is human greed, the same reason lawless society would crumble: even if you're personally interested in the well-being of the whole, a whole hell of a lot of people aren't. that's why communism always becomes totalitarianism, because law is necessary
democracy is the only sustainable form of government given human nature. democracy can implement aspects of socialism as most do with universal healthcare and stuff, but democracy is the glue that holds society together
Communism is a response to individualism, capitalism and materialism. It is about the collective ownership as opposed to individual ownership. Thus, its fault is that it is still defined by its opponent. This is in a similar fashion that in trying to live your life rebelling against societal rules you are still allowing your life to be affected by these rules.
The better societal goal, is to accept the totality of the individual, his possessions, the collective, its possessions, and all of nature as a one functioning organism. Your hair cells don't try to fight your stomach cells or brain cells for resources, they all cooperate as functions of a whole. Conversely, the whole does not compete with its parts. Such cooperation is an admirable goal for humankind.
