Hello and Welcome to Cycle 1 of EM's Next Top Profile! This will be a mixture of a profile contest and a social game.

Eviction:

nicrowy was eliminated! even though cody failed to submit a profile on time, the jury vote saved him with a 4 cody 1 mindful 1 cozy vote. with one jury vote being nulled for not submitting on time. the vote from em went to mindful because cody had already been given the jury vote.

Elimination Challenge:

The Final challenge is a 2 parter. For the first, each of the top 3 were given a redemption theme that they didn't do well on from the course of the competition to do again. For the second part we gave them an open concept where they were allowed to do whatever they wanted.

3) A lot of your lost creativity points with me because you used the exact same pieces as your partner, whether it be the video, bio, or background. Just because it's "couples" doesn't mean you need to be twins. The challenge here is to make it clear the profiles go together without making them exactly the same. Some of you did a good job with this, others missed the mark.

Just finished judging. I gave everyone some specific feedback which will get to you when we release the scores, but here's some general feedback for everyone.

1) Gif avatars don't automatically make a profile better. In fact, they frequently make it worse. You don't get novelty points for using them; the novelty of gif avis has long since worn off. The big issue with gifs is that when they reach the end and jump back to the beginning, the clip can be really distracting and even annoying. Sometimes you can work with it if there's not too much to distract from or if it fits the aesthetic. If your gif isn't smooth all the way through not counting the end, it's even worse. Static images are frequently a better choice.
Here's two examples of a gif avatars that work for different reasons:
https://epicmafia.com/u/Jasper#/ Notice; though it clips, it fits the aesthetic and there's not much to distract from. Not obtrusive, the clipping actually add some character to it IMO.
https://epicmafia.com/u/puke Notice; it's a perfect loop and the animation isn't huge; it's something you could almost miss if you weren't looking for it. It adds something neat to the profile without being annoying/distracting.

2) Don't overdo your bios. There's a lot of situations where less is more. Your profile should only have a couple focal points; if your bio is filled with lots of different images/gifs it's going to make the whole thing difficult to look at, especially if they're not stylistically consistent with each other.
