I'll give a brief definition of my criteria and then list some people that exemplify it off the top of my head.
Niceness entails more than just being happy and bubbly around others - nice people, to me, are people that treat others fairly and respectfully. They believe that everyone has a right to be heard and fairly acknowledged. They are willing to forgive others for personal trespasses against them.
They aren't quick to jump to conclusions; they take their time to think about their viewpoints, and when they come up with them, they don't force them on others. They make an attempt to understand the point of view of the "other side" and acknowledge the feelings and opinions of people who have a different opinion than them.
They don't take views on issues personally; they're able to agree to disagree with others and not judge them personally for the opinions they have. This leads to their relationships being generally stronger with others than non-nice people, because their relationships are founded not upon shared beliefs that are capable of changing over time (in short, circlejerking and gossiping about others), but rather individual character traits and personal experiences that they share with their friends.
I personally don't think I have most of the qualities I just described. I'm working on it though. I'm looking up to these people, some for this reason, some for that reason, but each because I think s/he surpasses me in at least one of the areas I mentioned: Solace, Himiko, hedger, Anthony, emmy, Edark, InfinityMidnight, Sincerely, japter (sorry forgot you the first time around).
