Could I get a refund on this game then, I didn't know that this was the case (as it isn't mentioned anywhere clearly visible, like on the gunsmith page).

It got to the point where the two people crossed and I'd hid my gun (so I could ask them more questions). One of them kicked so I went with my gut and selected one for the gun, who happened to be mafia. The game didn't end at that point so I panicked and randomly clicked on the town meeting menu and happened to click the other person; which lead to them getting lynched and so the town losing.
It should be that the gunshot goes before the lynch so I don't quite understand why, under this scenario, it didn't work. I didn't veg and it's clear on the thing that I selected to shoot before lynch.
