do you think that tradition is the best thing to base policy on? what about logic or reason?

It's one of their many, many, many jobs, yeah. We are traditionally a welcoming and accomodating country though, and it's our duty to take in people who are in need of a safe or better place (to an extent).

do you not agree that the job of the british government is to do what's best for the british people?

i think that you are mischaracterizing what i am saying. i was not suggesting that every british or non british muslim is homophobic. i only know one british muslim, but he's not a homophobe. you should not put words in quotation marks as if the words were exactly what i said when they weren't

as you put it i'm "targeting islam specifically" because the majority of migrants are muslims

your point about christianity is not very relevant here. when was the last time a christian government put gay people to death for their sexuality?

you are in the minority of muslims that do accept homosexuality, statistics show that the majority of muslims don't agree with homosexuality. saying that you're muslim but don't dislike gay people at all is as much of a point as saying that one muslim doesn't like gay people so all muslims don't - that is to say that it's not a point at all

it is very optimistic to think that if a group are offered help then they will accept the help graciously and abide by their new country's laws but we can see that that is not the case in, for example, sweden http://tinyurl.com/ppv3489

I think all countries should leave the European union and abolish the euro, it was a terrible idea. Applying policies on vastly different countries based geography makes no economic sense, and essentially treats all countries like they are Germany in hopes they will be. Would be like forming a governing body for all countries that start with the letter 'A', in hopes they will all be like Australia despite lacking it's mineral wealth among other things. Once this governance dissolves Europe will be far better off long term.

I particularly like the bit where yoyo said "hundreds of thousands of homophobes will be being let into our country" lol just because they're Muslim. I'm Muslim but I don't dislike gay people at all. I have no reason to. Sure Islam says homosexuality is not acceptable but so do other religions (such as Christianity) so I'm not sure why you're targeting Islam specifically. I get what you're saying about them coming from countries where there are Islamic laws, but like you said they wont be able to come here until 2022.

So either they will learn to respect other peoples decisions as they were offered a hand when they needed help, from countries where homosexuality isn't forbidden, or maybe they already have that mindset, since they are human just like you, and can live peacefully with other people.

Firstly the 0% figure didn't seem to use a very large sample size, unless I misread. As I think the second article says, many people in the muslim community find homophobic behaviour and terrorist sympathising alarming, but I do recognise that both of these things are quite prevelant in the religion, more so than I originally thought.

However, it'd be very selfish of me to want to bar all muslims or drastically decrease the amount of migrants coming into the country, especially those who are refugees, just because some of them hold more homophobic views. I'm already lucky enough to be born a white male in a core country into a middle class background, these people need protection for their lives much more than I do for being gay, so it doesn't change my stance on migration or staying in the EU.

let me tell you what staying in the eu will probably do for gay people living in britain

there are many migrants currently living in countries that are in the eu that have just come from bad countries like syria. the majority of these migrants are muslims

according to a surveys, 0% of the surveyed british muslim population said that being gay was acceptable (see http://tinyurl.com/zeksjxx http://tinyurl.com/jp6vjla )

from this i think it's fair to assume that the majority of syrian migrants won't think that being gay is acceptable either, because the syrian muslims will have been growing up around muslim values more so than the british muslims so their views will probably be even less western

the syrians that are now living in germany and france will legally be able to get eu passports by 2022, and will be able to legally live in the countries that are part of the eu when they have their eu passports. britain is not be allowed to turn people away if they have an eu passport

britain has nice amounts of social security and benefits, so syrian migrants will probably want to come to live in britain instead of france and germany when they have the opportunity. this is why there are so many migrants in calais trying to get to britain

if these migrants are able to come to britain in their hundreds of thousands then there will be, according to statistics, hundreds of thousands of homophobes will be being let into the country

this will probably lead to higher amounts of homophobia, homophobic hate crimes, et cetera

it's true that not all of the migrants are homophobes but if we look at statistics and facts then it can be assumed that a lot of them will be

what do you think about that escurai
