removing riddler's redstar was one of the highlights of my deadmining

The difference here is that Role mods will mostly be working independent of the mod team, and that it won't be viewed as a moderator-track position.
Gerry stated that they have a higher chance of being site mods in the future, so I'd say this is a "right step" in the direction of being a site mod if that's the case.
Yes but trial-mods were downright on track to become site mods.

only they'd have a more important responsibility than real mods when there's already trouble getting real mods who play/know the game
