Summer Tournament

I feel like, this summer, we should have an EM Tournament. I would be willing to cohost this with someone. The idea is that there are multiple 8 player games played during the summer. Everyone who comes in First, Second, Third or Fourth in their games will move on to the next round. Sadly, I have no money to give tokens to the winners, but its the thought that counts, right? Anyway, if you want to play, sign the petition and bump the thread.

EDIT: BobbySmith had a great point about the flaws of this tournament. To ensure that there are no pregame alliances, all entrants will be randomly put into 8 player games, from which the winners will move on to the final game. Everyone who loses will be put into random 7 player games, and the winners of those games will move on to round 2. The winners of the games in round 2 will move on to the final game. Then, the jury and winners of each game will select a nominee from their respective game, that should have won. (They will not be allowed to vote for themselves) All of the nominees will face off in a game, and the winner will move on to the final round. Whomever wins the final round wins the tournament.

rank people based on your perception of their skill level and then disperse them evenly across n number of games.

I did something like this over the winter. Only do bb. Never do survivor games.

I feel like it would be very possible to keep the "8 players per game" theme consistent. You could have your 12-14 finalists as per Bobby's revision, add enough wildcards to get 16, and place them into two games, until f4 for each game, then have a winner-take-all 8 player game. Smaller games are a lot less intimidating to host and are more likely to attract newcomers to the Survivor Lobby than a big 16 player game with established relationships hindering newer players from connecting with more seasoned players.

The issue with this format is that it encourages making one alliance and sheeping together to the final 4. If this were to happen, I'd like to see:

A collection of randomly designated 8 player games where only the winners advance to round two.
All the losers are randomly shuffled into new 7 player games, where only the winners advance to round two.

After both of these, the remaining double losers all enter two huge games, of which both winners advance to round two. As well, the entire jury+two finalists of each game vote on which player they feel deserved to win the most, that did not. Those two will also move on.

In a random guess, I'd say there'd be 32 to 40 participants. So 4-5 games for 7 and 8 player games. This means 4/5+4/5+2+2=12/14 people advance to round two. If that's not enough, maybe 2 more wildcards can be picked.

In round two, the players left face off in one big game, winner takes all.
