Suicide is a fine answer to many of life's problems.

Even if people know others care often it doesnt help.

I think there is always a light at the end of the tunnel and suicide is never the answer. Things do get better despite the situation, even when it seems like ending it is the best way to go. Like Mist said in the documentary the ones who jumped and survived said that in those seconds of falling they regretted ever jumping. Some people don't get to live as much as others so I feel its best to appreciate that you're even alive and remember that happiness comes within and... If you ever see someone dealing with depression, show them that you care and that they are very much loved.

there's this really interesting documentary called The Bridge about people who jump off the golden gate bridge and the most common response when survivors were asked about what they were thinking as they fell was something to the effect of instant regret

ahh, I saw it. Great documentary, anyone dealing with suicide thoughts should watch it.

Well philosophically speaking...

Well philosophically speaking there are philosophies that're perfectly fine with suicide, not all condemn it. Sounds more like you're arguing "Well moralistically speaking...".

Well philosophically speaking...according to the greatest happiness principle, ending a life is usually not the right course of action simply because the amount of pain it brings into the world (think of their loved ones) exceeds the amount of pleasure it brings (an individual's satisfaction with escaping undesired circumstances).

I can't imagine how much of a failure you'd feel like waking up post-op in the hospital knowing you can't even kill yourself.

If a person shoots themselves in the head and no one is there to witness it, does it make a sound when they hit the floor?

my friend's dad shot himself in the head when he was 16 but he botched it and just went blind
