Oh I value myself intensely, I especially value the fact that I have the intelligence to not buy into a set of societal fables about the inherent value of human existence.
Murder: BAD (idc who u r trying to avenge, revenge is dumb)
Physician-Assisted suicide: I think is okay, as long as the right precautions are taken.
Suicide: In terms of just the act of suicide, it's incredibly sad, and hard to understand when people feel as if everything is too much and they need to end their life to make the pain stop. I hate that is put down to a good/bad scenario. Suicide is never good. But by calling it "bad" i feel like that's saying the person who does it or attempts it is bad for doing so. I'm not religious, so if someone wants to take their own life I have no jurisdiction to say that they are right or wrong for doing so (although if it's someone i'm close to i will try hard as hell to show them how important they are). But at least as someone who studies psychology, I really believe that getting help is the best thing you can do. That someone is going to care, whether it's friends, or family, or a doctor.
-To go along with this i saw a post on facebook a few weeks back about a nurse's experience with a girl who ended her own life. How the hospital staff was doing everything in their power to save her, and how devastated they all were when they weren't able to save her.

I find that if you consider life a wholly satisfying alternative to death you probably have a pretty erroneous set of preconceptions about life itself.
