BRONTO just admitted. He lost a trophy because someone else ran on A&D and won 71 points. So bronto, who couldnt win as town on A&D played some other noob setup and lost like a baby.

"it's a long story," he said as he took a deep sigh. He proceeded to swish his wine around as he gazed out the window. "Rain again," he thought. It was a story, in his old age, that he seldom told, but often thought of when he harkened back to his younger days, as a primo epicmafia player and hot moderator prospect.
"It wasn't fair, they were stacked against me. The payouts... my god, they were awful. And then I was thrown against, but a refund? Ha! They'd never give me a refund, not after what happened in Round 115."
"Alright," he said, "I'll tell you, boy, but only because it's Sunday and I've filled my belly with wine." He took a sip and the boy looked on, eagerly waiting on the man's every word. Thunder boomed, as if to foreshadow the terrible events to come.
"First, the administrator comped a SITD variant, of all things, to impress an e-girl that was actually a dude. The payouts were terrible. It was wildly townsided, and there were two guns. Then, to make matters worse, the creator added in a graphical mode, which people used to cheat without detection! They stopped that after 2 days, but the round would go on, and I would press on too. It took a new admin to come in, Arcbell was his name, to then remove PBJT from comp, only to force people into playing A&D. Me? I was a Cry n' Spy guy. It's balance, it's daystart... my god, it was glorious."
"So what happened?"
"No one would join cry n' spy tables, but eventually, I rallied and had the same win rate as 2nd 3rd and 4th, but all with significantly more points. 'How??!!" I cried, baffled by how someone with less wins could be higher ranked. The culprit was clear - it was A&D."
"So then what?"
"Well, I finished 5th. The 3rd place person cheated too. I stopped trying after that, I had lost hope. And that's when I became an admin with one mission... to end A&D, so no one would have to suffer as I have, here, on the internet."

what's the point in playing compet if you can't even play with good players all day
ha if only. at the very least in main lobby there's a more diverse playerbase so it isn't the only thing being played. although slow is correct that it's foolish not to if you're serious about a trophy.
actually i remember him saying the average point per game would be like 1.16x more than what you'd get on a setup with a more reasonable payout - still more but not crazy. Either way, it didn't account for skill. Also it doesn't account for how people play the setup, which is part of the reason the payouts are so wonky.

the crappy A&V variation i strung up at least achieved a semblance of balance. A&D should be just killed off for good
the maths are that winning as mafia just takes one bad town and winning as town gives you 20 extra points

yeah i think vigoroth did the maths and concluded there was a statistically significant advantage to play A&D despite the low-mafia pay-out and win percentages
you can't metaclear yourself in A&D, which is why people aren't playing it.

it's getting to the point where not playing A&D this round is a tactical misstep. even if you dislike it, you get over 20 more points if you win as town (which isn't that hard all things considered)
