Competitive Lobby

Would you guys like it if there was another lobby for ONLY competitive games (orange hearts) and leave read hearts to this lobby? It used to be like this a long time ago, and I am just wondering.

Here are my arguments for it:

Honestly if the lobby was brought back, the strength of the competition would be great increased. There will be the basic step between training and competitions. There is a possibility that the round count may drop, but you have to think about multiple things.

1.) Some (probably a lot) of people are only clicking to join the round and are barely competing.

2.) Now that there was a massive group of new players introduced to orange hearts, they will go into the new (old) competitive lobby to play more.

3.) Those who only play red hearts will still only play red hearts. Thus, the red heart players will be happy to have filtered out of the orange heart games. Also, the orange heart player will, once again, have their own lobby and don't have to filter out the annoying red heart setups.

4.) Now that the mentoring lobby is revamped and seemingly more active, it is another source where new players can be introduced to the competition.

5.) I bet there will be a number of older players (whether active or not currently) that will start playing more orange hearts with the sudden change.

Obviously I'm not going to say this will even have a chance of happening. I just want to know what everyone would think if this were to happen again.

1. But thats a good thing theres more people to play with even if they aren't all serious
2. It'd just eventually return to the way it was before where new players feel intimidated to make the switch
3. I still really liked the filter button that was suggested but that was never implemented but should be.

You were really lucky if a game filled within an hour of making it, there was never ever multiple games happening at the same time, new players were ostracized as comp stats were separate than training stats and barely any new players showed up in comp because no one knew it existed.

I can now play a comp game without getting into a brawl with MikeyRu about whether joining the only filling comp game counts as lobby camping me and the new system works both ways in that a most comp players (and I myself) jump into the featured setups since they're legitimately good setups - which means that there are experienced players once again playing in games that are immediately accessable to new players. The site has never been healthier. This is the golden age of EM; don't kill it.

I just realized that if round stats weren't open to everyone but mods there would be almost no throwers as noone wouldn't know which players are running.

Yeah, it would be pretty hard to cheat when it's impossible to fill a game.

Are you kidding me? The reason why the two lobbies merged was because comp lobby was dying because of the mass circlejerking going on. Then you wanted to force the same people you're complaining about to play those games by putting in a point cap on training.

Now, I kind of agree with you but comp isn't really that alive to make the limit 10k


pls Skillz most people that play comp are over 10k believe me, it's just that noob minority that ruins it and makes the playing level near ranked games which it shouldn't.

i'd probably answer no because there really doesn't seem to be any gaping problems in the current system. would strength of competition increase? possibly. does that even matter? not particularly.
