i am not so sure using 'u' instead of 'you' doesn't in fact save time. it's like programming in the brain or something, not decided upon every time. it's hard to know, tbh. maybe i am contributing to my own alzheimer's later in life or something tho

Adopting an affect isn't the same thing as "writing them all out beforehand." A good example of affected posting is saying u instead of you, because at this point you've undoubtedly used a computer enough in academic/professional settings to be perfectly used to you; u doesn't save time, it's an affectation.
