Suggestion:Mod election system

deletedalmost 10 years

We all know mods are been suggesting by the other mods etc

So what about a new system to elect new moderators A new section in the forums where all moderator applications will be posted and on those applications Epicmafia can vote on so its more fair choosing the mod for epicmafia by the players of epicmafia

So its -1 votes or +1 votes with a reason why you downvote or upvote This will highly stop mods suggesting only friends

A mod should be choosed by the players of epicmafia and not the mods themselves

Current template i thought up

Main account:(Whats your main account)

Alternate accounts:(Your alternate accounts)

Why would you be a good mod(explanition why you be a good mod)

What would you do if three poeple gets into a fight with eachother(explaining how you would handle it)

Do you have any prior experience being a mod?

Did you contribute something to the community

Your timezone:

Langauges you speak(sometimes there are games with other langauges but very uncommonly)

Age:(how old are you in real life)

HEY LOOK A TEMPLATE^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Lemme tell you what's going to happen; you're going to elect a mod. That mod might be crap or they might be fine. Regardless, they're going to make decisions, many of them that are good & justifiable decisions, that you are going to despise in just the same way as what you're seeing right now in the current moderators. Because that's what happens when you moderate rules on a mafia site; people hate you for it because the rules unfortunately have to be subjective to some degree.

It doesn't even remotely look business professional. Or appealing. I blame AOL for this.

AOL was the bomb.

AOL made me care about and learn HTML and CSS so props to them.

It would appear their efforts have gone to waste.

because there are those people that just like to go against something they know is wrong. So its precedented to be able to handle that kind of public hate.

You do realize the one giving the unjustified public hate lately is you, right?

If you actually read into what I said, you would know that I was supporting gerryoat1 because of the fact that a mod went back on his word.

the word unbiased doens't apply to humans, because every human being has some sort of bias. If you want an unbiased individual make a robot the admin

i dont hate the community i just dont believe they should be in charge and are incapable of making unbiased decisions.

The funny thing is that if you replaced "community" with "mods" in that statement, you'll realize that this argument will keep going around in circles.

mods are more likely to make biased decisions. a community at large can hardly be biased enough in any particular way so as to allow bias have real effect. within a small mod team, that's different

mods are part of the community, just a significantly smaller percentage of the community

which is why we have an admin who is supposed to be unbiased, and if shown otherwise, should be removed

Also I think everyone should take it easy on Braixen as he's new to this forum posting ordeal. Thanks in advance.

So you're saying, Kerry, that you think the moderators are better than the community?

Which is, essentially, what the whole complaint about moderators that most of this community is making boils down to. The fact that people think and act like that.

Oh and by the way. Mods should also be willing to take hate for giving the appropriate vio. So I don't know why you guys are worrying about that. Right now, we are trying to get this democratic system in because mods right now are taking hate for NOT giving the appropriate vio and are also accused of being corrupt.

As for Howl - not only would that not be allowed to happen again

it still happened and would still be in place if it were up to the community and you know it.

So you have an issue with the community in general.

Sure, you might be correct. But that's the community this site has; whether you like it or not. So they matter here, whether you like them or not. I don't particularly understand people who stay around whilst hating the community at large.

I never had to do an unpaid internship because screw that.

Unpaid internships often have a negative impact because if you did work for free once everyone assumes they can get it from you.

True. I've had that issue with people wanting me to do graphic design for work them (bussiness cards, flyers, etc.) and then when I ask for pay they go, "Why would I pay you for that? I can do it myself!" BYE.

Then they open photoshop, slap down a really bad looking gradient, throw some text on top in Comic Sans, and call it a day.

That is the most frustrating part about design... people's font selections are just absolutely horrid.

I just use selections from Google fonts these days, my design skills are horrid but most of the fonts there are ok.

As long as you stick with sans serif fonts you can't go wrong... Where did I see someone use comic sans the other day? I think it may have been on a subcontractor's business card or proposal.
