  1. If you are non-meeting mafia, never kick. Your partners may not have voted.
  2. If you are town, always kick, it forces the mafia's decision to lock in.
  3. If you are meeting mafia, after all mafia have voted, fast kick, in case a town member is in the bathroom.
  4. If only one or two mafia meet, wait for town to kick.

If you are playing Ghost, make sure you kick as soon as you can so you don't hold the game up. The host has an infinite number of word pairs and can easily make a new game.
