It's sad to have to say this, but even though we lost a great player recently, the whole EM community is not going to change who they are because he has left us. We may preach "Let's change the community", but let's just put it out here right now that we are not going to change. Some of us will still be rude, whether it's in game or out of game, some of us will be welcoming, and some of us will not. It's going to happen. We're scum people okay? No one is good and no one is bad. (Except for banned users. They're bad.) We all are just stuck. That just really makes sense in this situation. We are stuck in a phase that is so hard to grow out of and change. But if people think it is worth a shot to try, then go right ahead.
Best of luck to all of you who are going to try to "change their ways.", I will be cheering you on.
EDIT:
to make a long story short, I am not blaming the EM community for Josh's death because it was not our fault. He was our friend and he taught us many things. I'm just saying that in order to change a community, we need to change ourselves first. Nothingg is going to change if we don't try ourselves.
i sometimes think that this place really allows a good community - besides all the aggro and w/e - because it deals very directly with the fact of lies. it's like, say, we instantly admit to each other that we're all liars, and then what can grow besides, grows - perhaps better than it could were we not to have that admission in place. i dunno. i think there's something kinda special about it anyway. this forum is kinda like an experiment in friendship maybe. i mean, whatever about the rest of it - sure, sh*t's going to hit the fan every once in a while; sure, we're maybe not the best of people, this isn't some super goody goody christian board or anything like that ... it is what it is. i enjoy it anyway
Haha. Speak for yourself, buddy. Some of us are pleasant people to play with that are respectful and nice to others, and treat each other in kind.
How about you fix yourself before you start preaching like your experience is the same as everyone else's? Because clearly what you're saying here has more to do with yourself than the community at large, just saying.
Matt12 is on point when he says it used to be much more hostile. If anything, the atmosphere has calmed down greatly, for many reasons, good and bad.
I remember, that was a terrible time. I have definitely seen change in my year of being here, but we still need to better ourselves more, even though we are deceitful liars.
The site has definitely gone through worse times, in terms of heated debates and outright hate for others via forums. Then again, it's become better, imo.

Nothing is going to change because it's incredibly facile to assume that the attitude of people on EM is what caused this
I'm hoping it'll open some people's eyes that this is a very real thing and thinking before acting could just save someone's life.
I'd be overly optimistic to believe that the community and potentially the world would change over a single person's suffering. Sadly, some people are stubborn and don't quite understand.
And I am not disagreeing with you. What you are saying is very true, hence why i made this topic. It's the truth. We are scum people.

The problem with epicmafia, which I have said like a million times, is that it is a game about lying, deception, and anger. This attracts liars, deceivers, and angry people. Nobody will change.
