Yeah, what I love about Queens is that it has a certain ruggedness element to it. Whenever I meet someone from Queens, I always get this vibe from them like "yeah, I've seen some [redacted]". There's a certain trait of Queens people that I almost always am drawn to.

actually i think i know what made em so aggressive back in '12. there were more competing families that people cared about. like compare bad boyz v. one (the family that atikur/brown made). that went on for a very long time. now no one gives a crap about families.
Honestly I really miss living in the city. Long Island is horrific when it comes to transportation, but the community is a lot better.
Long Island is a nice place to grow up, but I can't imagine spending the rest of my life here.

i liked dez as a mod, even though she was like the worst person ever about refunds. i didn't really deal with her much as an admin, so i can't really say anything beyond her behavior w/gafgarion rubbed me wrong, so yeah.
i myself went for sully but then settled down with cordelia.
also same
You are yet another person here who I think is a much better person than one would suspect simply from you forum personality. I think you get into a lot of petty arguments with people and at face value you look a lot angrier than you actually are. I think sometimes you're a little too open publicly and it makes people inch back a bit. Like Shacky, I think that the persona you embody occasionally rubs people the wrong way, but in fact it really isn't anywhere near an accurate representation of you as an individual at all.
My original impression of you was a salty forum personality - an aged EM user who had grown jaded from being stuck on the website for too long. When we interviewed you, it was actually Dez who felt really strongly that you'd be a great mod, and I followed her lead. I distinctly remember when we first spoke on skype about video games and I though "wow he's a nerd too, we could be pals" and surely enough I was correct. It immediately changed my opinion of you.
I think there's something stifling you from achieving the joy in your life that you have earned (location probably), and that in time, you will find said joy. You seem to be pretty pragmatic and have goals set so I'm confident you'll make it work.
i had no idea dez liked me. i mean, i liked dez until the gafgarion fallout, but i recall being a meanie bo beanie to her.
but ya thanks for the post. i'm a real softie.
anytime man.
yeah dude, Dez dug you in the interview. I feel like Dez gets a bad rep because of the Gafgarion thing, but I personally thought she was phenomenal.

like, people on this site are noticeably more vulnerable and reveal more sensitive information more now than they used to, and it's really weird living through back when you could literally get widely made fun of for inane details.
You still do, just not as much lol.
It's the internet, people are always going to troll one way or another
it was like communal shaming though. most you see now is people gang up on sirius or whoever's jackass of the thread. like, if you didn't experience Bad Boyz, it's really difficult to explain what i mean.

Honestly, you made me feel kinda old, but I like your spunk. You're the first online friend I've ever met up with in person so it was a new experience. I had a good time and I hope that one of those places pulls through for you man.
thanks, drunk analysis on top too? you were really cool but im sorry for making you feel old
I root for you and want you to find success. I could tell for a while that you've been in a rut, and I give you a ton of credit for being willing to take a huge risk and move to NYC. I'm probably in a much better situation financially than you and I still didn't have the balls to leave, so I have a tremendous amount of respect for you for trying.
When we worked together, I thought you were a great mod - even though originally, before I knew you well at all, I mostly was willing to mod you because I trusted John.
I think you have a solid idea of what you're looking for, but I think taking the steps to get there is a consistent challenge for you (as it is for many). That said, I think taking efforts to be slightly more pragmatic will benefit you greatly in the long-term.

best thing about NY so far is that there's 10 different things on every corner of the street and you could be walking in viva la chalupa and then turn a corner and be in ping pong ching chong chinaland
diversity, man
bad post
i dont see the issue, do you n eed me to slander manhattan for being filled with white ppl
yeah!
OK, manhattan is white central, you look one side of you and there is a white man, you look another and there is ANOTHER white man, it is like a never ending sea of well-off white men talking on their phones.

i think that there's a big culture shock between the old community (me, shacky, peta, sonseray, retti, etc.) and the current one because the old community was frankly vicious and would tear most people to shreds for a laugh, so putting yourself out there was ill-advised. meanwhile nowadays most people will make threads titled My Big Emotional Trauma and sort of like, i dunno, rely on the community for emotional support. it's such a bizarre concept to me when it's probably not that weird.

NY has been pretty good to me and i think queens is a decent neighborhood, i can see how after a few months it just becomes the same drag but sometimes i just enjoy walking down the street and just being around people
is this wetzel or appleofmyeye? Regardless, I honestly don't feel like I've interacted with you one-on-one enough to be able to formulate a well thought out first hand opinion.
