Also, I don't get an education discount. I'm a graduate. This is going to be used for a work-from-home job and my photography stuff. So it doesn't have to be like super fast or anything. Just fast enough to do some editing and general office type of stuff.
I've never had a problem with my Toshiba's. They've all died because of me. Haha. And I need a laptop for mobility. Lenovo is what we use at work where I'm currently working and I HATE it. lal.

Yeah I agree, I also have USB faults & my touchpad is really glitchy on my toshbia but mine is 3 or 4 years old.
That Satellite for $450 that cital posted is really intriguing but I want an apple because I know it'll last a lot longer with no risk of viruses, I just don't really think I want to spend 1 grand on a mac that I don't really need for school or anything
Sony Vaio is really good if u're not getting Apple. It might be more expensive when compared to Asus and Toshiba but it has surely proved it's value. I have my laptop for almost 4 years now and overall, except for a few minor fixes it's working well. This last year hasn't been great though
Seriously, check internet reviews, I speak from personal experience when I say that they are unreliable, have constant faults and are generally not worth buying. I've had mine for around a year and have already had USB faults, sound quality bugs and mousepad problems that needed solving.
my past 2 computers were toshibas and i liked them both a lot. the only reason i need a new one is because i physically broke the last one on accident. otherwise it would still be running well after like 4 years. I heard asus are good, too.
i have a toshiba qosmio that i got for like 1k years ago and it still runs as fast as ever. toshiba is recommended if you want to buy an actual laptop but if you're only using it for work and photography stuff, i still say just get a microsoft surface, its packed with the entire microsoft office, it works fine for photography, has a keyboard and it's easy to pack up and take with you on the go.
Toshiba makes decent machines. I've had a Toshiba for 5+ years now and it still works pretty well despite overseas travel and extensive abuse. It was $630ish when I bought it.
