Hm. This thread has taken a more emotional turn; I like it. This should keep you occupied for a while:

Name:

Age:

Height:

Religion (if any):

Righty or lefty?

If you could change your name to anything, what would it be?

What's the hardest thing you've ever had to go through?

What's the hardest thing you've had to learn to accept in life?

Have you ever been depressed? If so, for how long? If you aren't anymore, how'd you get better?

Do you have any medical problems?

Why did you choose the name BillStickers?

I'm agnostic but sometimes I wish I could sell myself on the idea of a higher power

Righty

I wouldn't change my name, not because I particularly like my name or anything but because I'm extremely impulsive and would end up regretting whatever I picked

I honestly don't know what the hardest thing I've gone through is and I'll have to get back to you on that one once I think of an answer

The fact that my life is ultimately totally out of my hands and more or less subject to the whims of people that may not even know or care that I exist. I have an issue with authority figures because I'm terrified of the idea that I'll tick one of them off when they're having a bad day and they'll ruin my life over absolutely nothing.

Yes, I was medicated from 16 to 21 and it took a lot of effort and progress on my part to get past it. I wouldn't say I'm "better" because I believe depression is something you learn to manage rather than ever really are "cured" of but I'm very happy with myself and the person I've become now, which I'm sure counts as better to most people.

brave new world is a sucky book really imo, but i'm biased as heck too i suppose. still, it's a big gay dream of being put gently to sleep, a flashy mobile over a dumb child's crib, not really any escaping that. orwell's stressing the boot and wariness of it is right, even if you don't believe there's such thing as a utopia.

Not really but that's mostly because I've always treated it as a neat story rather than a warning.

do u think religion can be a cop-out on building a real world utopia? lol

I think it's a cop out in the sense that people who see it as the ideal for themselves also see it as ideal for everyone and that's just wrong. I don't have any issues with insular religious societies so long as they're cool with the idea that they're just doing their own thing and don't try to infringe on everyone else. I guess the real answer is that I don't believe the idea of a utopia is real because no society can truly account for all the wants and needs of its members without strict psychological control

it's crazy how we build ourselves like we do, isn't it? we build so much of our emotional experience ourselves and it can be so different but not wrong either even though it's like the one thing that ties us all together. and i suppose everyone thinks their way is best too.

Actually I think it's totally a perspective thing and it's why I don't really begrudge people for having different mindsets or ways of seeing the world unless they're directly harmful to others or are directly inhibiting the person's own happiness

I'm actually really happy with my mindset and the person I am but I know a lot of people wouldn't be able to deal with it

do u ever think that you're maybe trying too hard to avoid your parents' mistakes and depriving yourself in the process, that you're conceding to their weaknesses even before you've started even? i mean, hey, it's your life, and you don't seem so dysfunctional or anything, but still... i had a brief relationship not so long ago with this girl whose father left her when she was young and it was incredible how fast she turned self-destructive. like, it was like it was going through her head all the time that 'he's going to hate me any day now' and she was steeling herself for it. and okay i'm sure she gets on or whatever, but what the , she's going to end up alone, right? there are some lonely psychologies out there

sorry, i couldn't not say nothing lol. the point of my life is literally my family, to be honest. but maybe that's just me.

There was a point in time in which this was probably true and I probably didn't start actually living for myself until I was 21 or so but ever since the switch flipped it hasn't been the case at all. I don't see my world view as lonely at all; I'm actually one of the few people on this site who's as extroverted IRL as I am here
