I am doing a presentation on Fairy Tales and Symbolism and how they relate to language. :) So, I thought I'd ask EM: What were some fairy tales you grew up hearing (not watching in disney movies!) or reading? What is your favorite traditional fairy tale?

My favorite fairy tale to read is the Little Mermaid and I also enjoy hearing the tale of Rumpelstiltskin :)

mulan would be the best about your topic

Snow White will probably be my primary fairy tale covered, as the chromatic symbolism basically screams out at you :) Mulan would be interesting to look into. I'd have to research how the historical influences play into any symbolism created in the legend.

you should do that, it'd probably make you want to switch from snow white

You should touch upon the prominence of wolves in fairy tales.

Little red riding hood, The three little pigs, etc

Thank you :) Will look into.

Little red riding hood and The three little pigs. I've seen a lot of versions of it growing up. Also Peter Pan.
