No atheism talk here, just religion and fun stuff. I'm writing a 10-12 page paper comparing norse paganism with christianity and Mesopotamian polytheism.
Did you guys know that Christianity still acknowledges the ancient gods of Mesopotamia, and other religions, but they changed their names a little and called them demons?
that's really cool. what else do you know about this
I don't know if your interest in it is genuine or not, given our past but I'll answer like it is, just in case.
I don't know much more about it. I was just doing some research into my own subjects for my paper, and found similarities between ancient god names and demon names, such as Astaroth, which comes from the name Astarte (ishtar), a Mesopotamian goddess. Also, Baal, a Canaanite god, was demonized (the demon's name is spelled bael), also seen placed with the suffix "zebub," and spelled "beelzebub".
Sadly, that's the extent of my knowledge, but I'm sure there are more connections to other religions.

but really, guys, this isn't a trap thread or anything. I'm taking a history of world religions class and it has shown me that it is much more than all of the hate that is shown by a small minority of religious people.
