Another Resignation?

deleteddeletedover 11 years ago

Yup. It is. I have many things to talk about, some worse than others. I'm not gonna make a long intro so let's begin:

1.) Doing this last investigation made me realize how much I don't want to mod anymore. I am beginning a lot of cool IRL stuff and don't ever want to put this much time into anything on a game website ever again. It was tiring and I knew no matter what we would get crap from our decision. It's almost like a chore.

2.) Moderator attitude sucks. Mod chat is an absolute disgrace on Skype. It is a huge orgy where literally nothing serious is spoken about 95% of the time. Oh yeah, and let me also say that jericho posted a **** picture and kino half naked pictures of herself. I do not wish to take part in any such thing, especially since it's supoosed to be moderator chat.

3.) Vancy let too many people mod that shouldn't be mods. Jericho did cheat. Yes, there are chat logs being withheld by a third party for reasons I do not know.

4.) Kino isn't necessarily a bad person, but she is the most unprofessional mod I have ever seen. She posted all that crap, and even account shared with banned users/people who weren't mods. It is totally unacceptable and she never should have been modded.

5 has been removed for personal reasons

6.) I've been feeling ostracized from the rest of the team a lot lately. I normally have different views than a lot of the mod team, but when I voiced my opinion on numerous occasions, I was yelled at by some of my fellow mods for "overreacting" or "not being a team player" etc.

7.) There is more leaking going on and I am getting tired of not being able to trust most of my team members.

To sum this up, I am generally unhappy being a mod and I am probably going to get slammed by Jasper for not talking to him about this stuff first, but everyone needs a wake up call. Jasper is a really great guy and I think you all should give him more of a chance to prove himself. He has so much potential.

Personal shout out to Ucklar for being on the team for so long, it's really hard to do.

Also, Jasper, please look for cheating mods to replace me, thanks!

Thanks, community for dealing with my sarcastic posts all the time. I really had the community in mind at all times when it got serious. I promise you I never tried anything against you all on purpose. Leaving modding now is the best decision for me and the site at this point.

TL; DR: I'm tired of modding. Wake up mod team.

the underlying issue is that moderators are tasked with both judging players' gameplay, managing publicity rating and handling public affairs when really it is rare to find someone with the qualities required to fulfil all three roles. imo lucid needs to build forum mods

gauging someone's ability on their forum posts is widely inaccurate as nobody really cares about the forums in the first place. you should go off their track record of violations and behavior in games

Respect as a mod: not showing up fellow moderators on the forums, not showing them up anywhere actually, not attacking regular users anywhere, being able to keep calm when appealed/a thread is made about you, not being overly sarcastic about serious issues.

being nice to other people is a tertiary requirement. it's good to possess that trait, but it's not inherently necessary nor should it ever be seen as a priority to have "nice" mods.
this is just wrong, actually

Mods have to be respectful. They're supposed to set an example. And good heavens Peta that was a RUMOR the poor banana ;_;
I'm really sorry Melody

there's a really negative mindset in the mod team right now where if you don't display a caricature of being remotely nice on the forums then your chances drop immediately despite your ability of being a mod and that's one of the most backward ways of thinking I've ever encountered
No it's not. You don't have to insult people to prove a point.

You don't need to be sweet like Melody, but I too wouldn't want to mod Slow for example based on his posts on this thread (he's a good mod for other reasons however).

Being respectful should definitely be a factor
being respectful doesn't fall under the category of being nice and if it was about that then admins would use their position of being above mods to enforce people to get along within reason or get out
Sure, being respectful doesn't mean being nice, but they're not looking for nice people. They're looking for respectful people, so you're wrong
im not sure what vein of respect falls in this context

someone behaving abrasively in their capacity as a user does not necessarily mean that they will as a moderator
Oh I definitely agree with that. But when they fail to be respectful as a moderator, things have to be dealt with immediately. Also, sometimes you can weed out mods based on how negatively they post. If their posts are overly negative (key word:overly), they should not be modded.

it sets an example however. if i were not-me and i saw me making posts that i make i'd hesitate to mod me as well. but i am me, so i wouldn't hesitate to make me moderator, admin or site owner

I need a paragraph-long opinion by you on Goodbar or a referral to a previous page of this thread containing said information before I reach my verdict
