Alright so the 'banning guns' thread gave me an idea and I'd like to make a separate thread outlinining my thoughts and see if it's something the competitive community would be interested in pursuing.
Current System
A setup can only be comped once every 3 rounds
Variants are at mod discretion on a case-by-case basis
Proposed Changes
A setup can only be comped once every 5 rounds
Established variants kept on a running list (that will be public); new variants looked at by mods on a case-by-case basis
Goals
Improve diversity: This would mean that you'd only see certain setups at minimum every 50 days or 2 months or so (assuming ~10 day rounds). At minimum, you would see 30 different setups before seeing the same one comped again, allowing for a greater variety of setups to get exposure and giving people an opportunity to run on setups they like that may be less popular.
Tighten up what constitutes as a variant: makes things more objective and less on what the current admin/mod team thinks. This way there won't be as much debate over what is a variant or not the day of the round, it'll be pre-established and known, so people will know what they can and cannot comp
Please discuss. I'd also like to hear what the current mods think of this since they're the ones who will be enforcing this.
every time we tried to do this before it backfired and only really succeeded in diluting the options for people that actually wanted to run; if you're actually serious about setup diversity the absolute best way to go about it is to make sure everything that gets comped comes with an in-depth setup guide so players who aren't good at thinking outside the box will feel more comfortable
