I don't know if luck is the word, but other factors are definitely in play other than simply one person's skill, I can agree. For example, others can drag down a game by playing badly, having the wrong foses, falling for mafia tricks, etc while you are the only one who does the right things, and ultimately the game ends up being a loss. Despite this though, you can still pull through and win most games if you have the skill, imo.

if you are playing well but can't convince other players, then you're not playing well. mafia is 50% persuasion as any role.

i don't know what you honestly expect since mafia is a team game and every game should end, ideally, with the superior team winning.

That is not what I am saying. What if you play better than the mafia, but the mafia still plays well, but everyone else in the town falls for mafia's tricks because they played well? Are you not just simply in a game with bad people and you deserved that win because you "knew it all along"? Or because the mafia deceived everyone else in the town (excluding you), they deserved that win?

legitimate running takes way too long to try anyways

you really have to take some time every day to play 5 hearts, and depending on the setups they can be pretty long games

i've had around two chances to actually try to win a trophy but it was hard to get through school work, a job, etc just to win pixels over the internet

so half the time not even worth it imo

i think the only user that was good and tried to get a trophy that was never able to was insano, part of that was because of pressure on him, but most of it was people throwing against him on alts.

fundamentally, the core of a trophy winner needs to be able to manage situations that are inherently unmanageable. this means earning the hearts and minds of people as scum and being persuasive and convincing as town. there are different means to achieve this, you just have to be creative.

Luck + mechanics play a huge role in winning the trophy

Really the main thing that you need to be good at (I think) isn't even scumhunting or mafia play; it's the ability to know how to manipulate the players who have no idea what they're doing

Bring back comp lobby so people know what they're doing
