interesting observation

points =/= skill level

When meeting someone new in game what is the best way to determine their skill level. Points are not a good indicator heck even win % is decieving. Knowing somone's skill level is key to reading them. ex. new player towntell and scumtell different than an experienced player

QTD (question to discuss)

How to determine someone's skill level quickly in a game to gather accurate reads?

Winrate + setups played, unless it's a small sample size and disregarding cheaters.

This is, of course, a fairly poor way of figuring it out. (However, there isn't a better one besides playing with them.)

Really the worst thing you can do is underestimate a player and think they're too transparent and then get rekt if they're mafia.

i dont think how good a player is should affect your reads on them

good players can fabricate town reads. they know when and what to say. new players tend to be more transparent. a players skill level is one of the most important aspects to consider

the best way to gauge how good a player plays is by trophies, honestly tbh.

especially if they get them in a short time span, like half a year, let's say.

for the sake of the argument. let's say it is final day of round and you need to win to win trophy. lots of players you dont know so it is necessary to determine within a game.

obviously, playing 5-10 games with a player would indicate their skill but sometimes 1 game is all you have.

The best way to tell if someone is good is to play with them for a while and make an assumption on your own.

i think win-rate after a certain number of 100s of games is the only really way to tell if someone is garbage or not. winrate is still fairly poor, but if someone has a really big one they are either a farmer, a cheater, or consistently good

this only works to tell generally if someone is complte por not. determing if they earned that winrate takes time and many games played with them

win rate is probably the best indicator but half the people with good win rates point farmed for it

there's no real way to determine someone's skill without playing a few games with them. win-rate maybe, or if you can tell if they're confident and that the confidence isn't misplaced
