What is MLS? MLS is short for Major League Soccer. MLS is an American/Canadian soccer (or football for the europeans) league formed in 1996 which currently hosts 19 teams.
Note: Large text means the team is competing for a spot at the supporters shield which is most points in the regular season. Normal bold means clinched playoff spot. Italicized means they are still competing for a playoff spot and have not cliched it yet.
What's happening this season:
Chivas USA to be removed - New LAFC team announced for 2017
Orlando City SC + NYCFC to join eastern conference / SKC + Dynamo to western
MLS logo officially remodeled
Why MLS?
You should follow MLS for many reasons:
1) You can follow many USMNT stars such as Clint Dempsey, Micheal Bradley, and Jozy Altidore
2) MLS is one of the fastest growing soccer leagues in the world right now. While it may not have the quality of EPL or La Liga, the league is growing better every year.
3) Cheap: If you happen to live in the USA or even Canada, there is likely a team close to you. I used to live very close to Portland, so the Portland Timbers were the team I followed. The tickets were cheap and the atmosphere was amazing when I went there as shown here.
This is going to be a fantastic MLS cup, im still confident in the Revs winning the east. As for the West it really could go either way. New England's won against both of these teams in the regular season and pretty handily, so it will be an exciting final for sure no matter the matchup (even if NY wins, which is unlikely in my biased homer opinion)
you have to forgive me, you have to realize i haven't been watching sports recently. lesson learned. to get smarter, you need a healthy dose of sports. and i'm going to start my sports supplementation right away. starting with baseball and car racing. i want to watch the number 8 car go around the track, much faster than the number 7 car.
i was wondering why i wasn't smart recently. i was thinking about how i need to be more smart. and then i realized all of my friends and accomplices who are smart watch sports. football, baseball, basketball, they all increase your intelligence by watching them. if you want to get more smart, you need to watch football, baseball, and basketball in large quantities. you'll notice over time that your brain gets bigger and you get more smart the more you watch sports and root for your team. root root root for the home team! root for your team at a sporting event and watch your brain grow.

Minnesota and Sacramento need a franchise before anyone else. Letting Miami AND Orlando have a team before them would be beyond stupid.
I also hate that it's not popular enough to where they could feasibly migrate towards a proper promotion/relegation system, rather than just blowing teams like Chivas up and starting over.
Scuba, once Detroit gets into the NASL or USLpro then they might get a team. I don't think they'll be getting an MLS team anytime soon though, places like Minnesota, St. Louis, and San Antonio will probably be chosen first.
Surprising result today: New England beats Columbus who are at home 4-2!
Playoffs now are a two leg stretch, 1 away and 1 at home. With New England being at home for the next game against Columbus, it looks very likely that they will advance.
On later tonight is Real Salt Lake (H) vs LA Galaxy (A), which can go either way.
It's been an intense final week. Today has Seattle vs LA - which was a fight for the supporters shield.
On the other end of the playoffs, Vancouver were ahead of Portland by 1 point. Vancouver had the easier fixture, but Portland came ahead away at Dallas.
Going on right now is Vancouver vs. Colorado, if Vancouver ties or loses then Portland advances.
Why? Both teams are on 60 points with the teams facing each other twice for the final two matches of the regular season. The outcomes of the two matches between both teams decides who wins the supporters shield, which is whoever gets the most points in the regular season.
