for once

i just wanna know when the hell the insane amounts of compression on avatars is going to be resolved b/c this is really piddling me off, some of m favourite imgs are like really trashy lookin' and thats why i have unrest when picking avatars again oops,,,

Well yeh it was changed to 4:2:0 chroma sampling at a quality % of 65, if imagemagick's info is to be believed.

It's... never gonna look good ;_;

Use PNG, despite the extension changing it'll stay a PNG file if you upload it as one. It still doesn't look perfect but it's better.
yea that's what i've been doing but it's still bad lookin

if you're saving your avatars as a jpeg in the first place you're doing it wrong
actually for a while i found saving them in .jpg over .png made it look better, before this insane compression thing began; but now it's like a lesser of two evils. i feel like i'm in 2002 with their image qualities.
