Right now the mod team is discussing spamming as a vio and we're considering condensing it into one vio. This means that spamming in unranked games will now be a community vio and thus against the rules, contrary to how it is currently moderated. It would also be moderated in sandbox, which it currently isn't.

Right now, we just want to get a consensus of how the site feels about this. Do you think spamming should be moderated in unranked + sandbox?

Explain the difference because I don't understand your train of thought on the distinction between the two trolly behaviors.

spamming is spamming is spamming. we moderate it when people spam on lobby walls of sandbox, but we don't in game. why? it is the same action, just a different location. meanwhile we don't moderate things that constitute game ruining actions. i think i've focused too much on that since it's not the crux of my argument.

as it is, i'm pushing more for moderating main unranked since the sentiment in sandbox isn't strong enough to push to mod it there and i don't wanna be the guy that tells sandbox how to run its ship there. i don't play there, and most people (as it seems right now) disagree with me.

Sandbox maybe, but randomly hosted unranked games that are hosted to play with your friends shouldn't be moderated for spam imo. Where do I host games where I just want to screw around and have fun if spamming is going to be moderated in unranked?

I think it can be, but it's not always, hence why it's easier just to call them two different vios.

How come? If people wait 5min for a game to fill, and then someone starts a sui race it ruins the game that the other people wanted to play. They now have to remake and wait all over again without enjoying the game they intended to play.

because GRS implies we're moderating the result of games, we're just moderating how people play them.

A sui race isn't game related. A sui race is more trolling than anything. Joining setups just to suicide out of them as fast as you can and end the game is annoying especially when people have spent time waiting for the setup to fill.

i'm not gonna moderate trolling in sandbox because that's inherently based on the game. meanwhile spamming isn't.

It's really not that hard considering we already mod spamming perfectly fine, it's more just seeing if the community would support modding it in unranked and sandbox.

Your biggest mistake is assuming that sandbox is a game, in which there is an objective.

the objective is having a fun time. i don't think people ruining fun times is cool.

Banning someone for having their fun time ruins their fun time

spamming a game to the point where no one can vote or talk is a pretty unfun thing to do.

So don't play w/ the people that like to spam

Bringing back up my point of making a line where only the most extreme, repeat offenders should ever be eligible to get that vio for unranked
