So what do you guys think about the recent happenings of EM?
Many people in Comp Lobby think that (also people from the administration team) people from Training are not so invested in the politics and forum drama of EM.
I personally think that even though Training is not that vocal (excluding some players who are fairly active on the forums [although it's on the Comp forums]), this is a community and you have your own preferences, problems, wants&needs.
So what are your opinions about the recent flow of things?

Any sort of pie, but don't be dirty minded.. That's disgusting..
Unfortunately, the idea of getting Comp players to come to Training simply doesn't happen often enough to have a major impact. Not to mention, Training Lobby round numbers have been down, this round and last have had a startingly few number of games played and not a lot of people actually run for trophies. One mega lobby with a single competition may be better.
It ultimately comes down to what Lucid wants, and as far as I know, he is content with the current system and given the problems associated with the merge, I can't say I particularly blame him. There are pros and cons to both.
The main issue Grizzlyman is that the communities are different and there are people who frequent each part of the site that dislike each other. Many Training players dislike the vitriolic nature of competitive lobby games, Comp Lobby players can't stand noobs who play poorly. It's mostly situational, but there is some truth to this stigma on both lobbies, which is why certain people like playing in one over the other. Many talented players who could compete in Comp simply choose not to because they don't like the playerbase.
That being said, Comp is much smaller and would be diluted if there was a merge, however, there would be people in both lobbies who dislike the notion of it.
I like your idea though for the mega lobby. If there were four types of games allowed:
If it was all in one lobby with filtration (lolwot proposed a similar idea before), it's improve traffic in games immensely imo. I'd personally put point restrictions on each (4 unranked to get to red heart, 1500 points in red heart to play silver heart, 3000 points total to play Gold or something along those lines). I think having it right in front of them would make it more exciting and people would be inspired to try and get to the highest level of competition.
And by the way I'm not saying you should just shut down the lobby tomorrow we would be picking new mods pretty quick if you did. but maybe at least try and encourage the comp players to engage more with the new players? Think carrot and stick. Softly, softly approach. I don't see why it should be so hard to bring the community together after all we all share a mutual interest.
Maybe offering some kind of reward for the training comp like tokens would be enough to get comp lobby user back into the main training lobby? There are plenty of other positive ways you can push in this direction so you are no just shutting down a lobby with a user base who many not appreciate being forced around.
In the long run I would like to see an extra lobby like comp but I want it locked to the top 100 players on the site. If you are not top 100 you can even get into the lobby. the top 5 say from the training round each week would get promoted. The bottom 5 in the top 100 lobby get demoted and there access to the lobby removed. Any player in the top 100 lobby that is inactive for a week gets demoted and replaced with the next highest in the training round that week. I think this would give people a reason to try and get into comp games so they can be promoted. it will also mean the competitive part of the site is full of good and active players. It will mean the competitive part of the site is actually competitive because people have to fight to stay there and not just a social club of people who like each other as it is now. Unfortunately I don't think we have the user base to support that yet.
To get there we need to grow the number of users and I think making the training lobby as good as it can be is the way to do that. By luring comp users back into training lobby we reduce queue time in training and also reduce the ratio of newbs and trolls making a greater experience for new visitors. In turn meaning more people return to the site. Ofc if the comp guys cant be luring back into training its a lost cause you don't want to force it as they will just leave the site and the whole thing will be counter productive. I honestly believe if they can be convinced to move moving comp users into training will help grow the user base which ultimately means more ad revenue for Lucid. Why would he fight that?
thebrontosaurus can you expand on some of the potential problems you are worried about with merging the lobbies?
I completely agree with gistofeverything. I want a mega lobby for now. Maybe add an extra colour heart type of games to training lobby say black to replace comp lobby gold heart games? This would functionally be exactly the same as now just with every one in the same room. I personally think this would do a lot of good for the site in general and I cant see why comp lobby people would fight it.
The argument for merging the two lobbies is that it will increase the amount of people there at one time, which means games will fill faster and people can play more obscure setups. Creating an intermediate lobby would make this even worse and probably kill training lobby too. A better solution would be to change what training lobby is for but then you have a whole heap of problems about what to do with new players.

if you're not going to merge training and comp, can you at least help the intermediate lobby take off
Trust me. I had this argument a while ago before I became a mod. It's not going to happen. I could try to push for it, but I don't know if any good will come of it.
And yeah, I know Comp Lobby can be abrasive at times and the community sometimes insular, but at the very least you can play competitive quality setups in Training Lobby now.
I'm so sick of playing multi and Classic. they get so boring after the first 300 games of it.

Believe it or not, I don't play in training because I enjoy the same setups over and over and people who don't know what they're doing, it's just because I don't like the atmosphere (for lack of a better word) of comp.
Lucid won't merge Comp and Training. The cultures of the two lobbies are vastly different. While it may make sense in theory, there could be other problems associated with it.
Stick everyone in one lobby. Convert points into a currency that can purchase gold hearts. Max 5 gold hearts purchased per day. Comp between -all- users. Gg.
The community is not big enough to support many more lobbies though we are fragmented enough. Also shipping of new ppl to a empty and bad lobby (and you just know a exclusively newbie lobby will be full of trolls and long queues) will give new ppl a bad experience and reduce the growth rate of the site. Which in the long term will increase queue times and ad revenue for the site.
I agree a more graduated level of difficulty would be nice but an extra lobby isnt even the way to go about that. Any one can join any lobby they like regardless of skill. If you really want to sort ppl according to skill what you want is leagues/divisions.
Personally the number one issue on this site is queue times for games other that fancy/classic. Not the progression to comp games path, I think this works to acceptable level already.
