Creating a Setup

(click on the images to enlarge them)

  1. These are the different games that you can play in Sandbox. This thread will only go over creating a mafia setup.
  2. Role Types - You can toggle the role types here - Standard, Custom, and Your Roles. The standard roles are the ones that are official. Custom roles are unofficial roles. Your roles are roles that you can create.
  3. Role Search - The circles allow you to focus on only town, mafia or third party roles. The search allows you to search for a role by name.
  4. Role List - Here are all of the roles (which can be narrowed down by the role search). You can add a role to your setup by clicking the little up arrow left of the role icon. You can remove a role by clicking the down arrow below that. If you mouse over a role, it will show what that role does.
  5. Game Options - These are options for your game. Whisper is on by default, and in this picture Closed Roles are on as well. This allows players ingame to message each other without everyone knowing. "Start day" makes the game start without a first night phase. "Must lynch" does not allow a no lynch. "Dawn" prevents night actions on the first night phase. "Sunset" allows for a 10-second wait after all votes are in. "No reveal" causes the roles of players to not be revealed after they die. "Reveal alignment" reveals only the alignment of a dead player (town, mafia, third). "Last Will" allows for players to write something in their will. "Closed Roles" chooses random roles to put in a game. "Anonymous" opens up a small menu to choose a deck from (or create a deck). If an anonymous deck is chosen, users ingame get one of the fake users in the deck. "Multiple Mafias" allows for two mafia teams, black and red. The black and red mafia roles are separate in the role list, as the red ones are marked by a red dot next to them. "Password" allows you to set a password for your game to make it private. "Game Title" allows you to set a title at the top of your game. "Webcam" makes your game in webcam mode. The most common game options for sandbox games are Whisper, Last Will, and Closed Roles.
  6. The roles you put in your setup show up here.
  7. For closed role setups, you must specify the number of players the setup should have, as well as how many town/mafia/third players there should be. The "Unique" checkmark prevents users in a game from getting the same role.
  8. Start Game - This starts a game with the settings you just made.
  9. Create Setup - This creates a setup which will show on your profile and make it easier to rehost.

Finding a Setup

You can search, by name, for a setup. You can search by how many players the setup contains. Finally, you can search for setups by the Game Options set.
  3. Here you can go to the next pages of the setup list.
