Album of the week is: Beach House - B-sides and Rarities submitted by Reamix!
She says "I can't say much about this critically, as it just came out recently. But this is the same old Beach House. The same music that sounds good if you're happy or sad or whatever. This album is so calming and beautiful. I don't know how anyone could not love it. "

i'll have to submit an entry for all of my nakhhash alts
My personal opinion: I'm only about 20 minutes into listening to this album for the first time, but I do really like it. I don't like the male voice as much as the female's but I appreciate the ballad feel this whole album has. My favorite part of this album really has to be the strings especially during the interludes and the very simple piano parts which support the somber feeling of the album.
Suggested by Segalow: "Yes, that's how the band name is spelled. Alternative slowcore album about, well, leaving, relationships, that sort of thing. Extremely moody, depressing and down, with some absolutely gorgeous harmonies from the male and female singer. Probably the single most depressing album I've ever heard, despite the legitimately beautiful string arrangements."
since this was my suggestion and whatever here's a few words
ego death is just absolutely amazing. personally i consider syd to be one of the best songwriters out there (both shown here and on her debut solo lp "fin". the production, mostly dominated by matt martians and steve lacy, is exactly what this album needs - it creates an absolutely perfect atmosphere. there's also a really nice mix of retro vibes and experimentation. the queer lyrical themes and the solid features are just an added bonus. 10/10
The fact that so many books still name the Beatles as "the greatest or most significant or most influential" rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art.
I definitely want to get a good mix of well known albums and unknown ones, but preferably ones that are on spotify, apple music, youtube etc as opposed to soundcloud or bandcamp type websites.
although it has the downside of killing any chance of unknown gems to be aotw i doubt that there'd be a lot of people interested in random bandcamp albums that like 2 people bought
but if there's interest then accomodate for those too tbh
