you are too smart and impartial to have conversations with normal people. if you talk about politically charged topics, you will always get that response... especially from americans
Reading through this all I can see is people saying I support Hamas, support terrorism and support genocide. I would love someone to please quote to me back anywhere I have said this or made reference to this.
you are oversimplifying hamas. by calling them terrorists you are suggesting that they have no legitimacy to represent the people that elected them to destroy isreal. they are a militant group that believes that isreali territory was given to them by god, and it was stolen from them. wether or not that is a legitimate claim is a different story. but their goal is not to strike fear in the hearts of isrealites. its to destroy them.
also, if you believed that sort of thing, you would want to root out the invaders too?
Chin, its pretty obvious here. Like minded people don't support terrorists. If you support Hamas, you support terrorists. Its pretty simple really. Disregarding any specifics, support Hamas is supporting terrorists.
I just recently spoke with an Israeli who was here in the states when all of this started.
I have spoken with Israeli soldiers during my time in Afghanistan. If we are looking at the overall "good hearted citizen" card. Israelis destroy the members of Hamas in a heart beat. Hamas, drags bodies behind vehicles for not being as radical as they are... Israelis, share and treat one another with respect.
So ill say again, as plain as i can make it.... Supporting Hamas = You support terrorists.
Out of interest can I ask of those who support Israel - what is your background? such as where you are from/age/ religion etc.
I'm just interested to see what influences your views on this subject.
I'm also quite surprised at a complete unwillingness of those who support Israel to admit to any wrong doings that have been performed by Israel during this conflict.
Israel allows palestinians to live with them peacefully it is not like israel is kicking them out but the second israel gives up the west bank as they did with gaza it will only fuel more missles being fired at israels from both directions now. Also if one israeli ever stepped foot in gaza they would be killed but there are many arabs all of over israel you need to understand ISRAEL WANTS PEACE HAMAS WANTS WAR
Israel needs to stop bombing children. No matter what someone does to me in this life i won't go and start bombing children. There is something extremely wrong their. If someone *** my family member i will bomb them but i won't bomb their relatives.
@magil1 Yes I totally agree with you Palestinians did not own the track of land now known as Israel immediately before the creation of Israel in 1948. It was as you say owned by the British, who were going to barter it off to Jordan and Egypt. So yes it can be said, even without the creation of Israel, Palestinians were not going to have their own country. However with enormous pressure from Western Countries sympathizing with the bruised Jewish Survivors of the world, a plan was put forward to create a Jewish State, and a Palestinian State, side by side. In other words, the land now known as Israel was given to the Jews by the nations of the world.
What I am referring to however is the large amount of land lost due to the conflict which was initially given to the Palestinians and large number of Palestinians displaced. There are over 6.6 million refugees and over 500,000 internally displaced Palestinians, if your country lost land in a war you would surely want to reclaim it?

Why are people ignoring this? This argument alone blows every other out of the water.
shinchan the land never belonged to the palestinians it belonged to the british and then it belonged to the jews and the arabs fought israel for the little land they had and israel defeated them
@TheVigil @dustmote the aim of this topic was provide a venue for discussion into these issues thus removing any debate from games and on the epicmafia wall. If all debate is based here it will eliminate any feelings from both sides leaking into other areas of the site. I feel everyone discussing things in here is being reasonable and not resorting to just insulting eachother and is trying to provide evidence to support their views to the other side. I find this sort of debate far more helpful.
@dogstendtofly that article does highlight many things Hamas are at fault for. However many of the sources provided come from the Israeli media so there is inevitably going to be a bias.
The amount of knowledge and understanding you have of the real situation in Palestine = Close to none.

The quality of life and standard of living in Israel = High
The quality of life and standard of living in areas controlled by Hamas = Low
Hamas is using the very little resources it has to provoke war with Israel, rather than improve life for it's people. Israel, on the other hand, is doing everything it can to become a modern progressive nation for it's people, and only uses it's weapons in it's defense to protect it's people.
I think these facts for themselves speak as to which is the lesser of two evils.
Perhaps people like a good debate over controversial topics. A thread where people can flex there brains at one another and prove intellectual dominance over one another.
