To explain your town winrate being bad, it stems back to player meta. You don't have to know how other people play when you are mafia, you just have to not look like scum. As opposed to needing to be able to get reads on people as town, and since it's a fresh batch of players, you don't really know how anyone plays, so you mishammer based on attitudes you've never experienced.

You just haven't played in a long time. The players have changed, so you know very little about the people you are playing with, and unfortunately meta is an extremely crucial part of Mafia. You're also not very used to the setups that are being played. Just takes time to adjust.
