i entered this cycle pretty ready to root for bernie sanders but over the past few months he's just turned into the guy i wouldn't mind voting for in the general.
his campaign sorta devolved into this really dreadful, angry, finger-pointing (and wagging, per his trademark) mess and i'm not here for it. i remember before entering the race he said he would only enter if he felt there weren't better candidates. i really feel like he entered prematurely. i also feel like he believes his platform is still radical: it is not. most democrats have since adopted a LOT of his ideas and they've become central to this election cycle. his performance at the debate sorta solidified my belief that he really believes only he can be a good nominee/president. in a weird irony, it sorta just feels like he's become a left-wing mirror to trump.
his closing remark at the debates was especially laughable: the idea that the problem was that nothing was changing or could change without him. everything DID change because of him but they've also evolved without him and also it feels kinda crazy for him to just sweep his arm across the stage he was on and act like he was standing around a bunch of wealthy moderate white guys. not that kamala harris or cory booker are agents of change in the slightest, that's an uncle tom and an aunt tammy if i ever saw one.
more and more, i've really fallen in love with mayor pete. he more than any other candidate feels like an answer and remedy to trump, not just a counter. he's very level headed, educated but doesn't have an obnoxious air about it, definitely informed on a lot of issues i care about, and his demeanor felt like a soothing vaporub massage in that congested a** debate. i definitely think he needs to put more work into how he addresses race and includes it in his platform. i worry, of course, about his electability especially after he got the full smackdown by mr. colorado but i'm fully charmed by mayor booty.

anyone who thinks he's a "different" kind of politician should sincerely off themselves because he'd be assuming the presidency at age 80. that's just garden-variety shite.
he's a bum that never had a real job til age 40 and has never passed meaningful legislation. everything he proposes is poorly researched. it's all a purity test
