I think Return of the King is the best made film of the three, but that Fellowship of the Ring was the best adaptation of book to film.
Fellowship has the best standing CGI compared to the other two. It also has the best opening scene in cinematic history.
Two Towers has great character development and has the best siege battle that I've ever seen.
ROTK has some amazing speeches, excellent battles and a very emotional ending.
Battles wise ROTK> or = TTT > FOTR
Plot wise FOTR > ROTK > TTT
Ending wise ROTK > FOTR > TTT
