If you're like me, you're done using Skype because it's hot garbage. That said, I'm probably going to hold the chat for this Summer's Olympics on Discord as opposed to Skype. But several people are still on Skype. There's a big SPLIT between who is on Skype and who is on Discord. However if the poll results say Skype is more favorable, then I'll suck it up and use Skype for the Summer to host the event. So tell me, which instant messenger do you prefer?
Skype has no actual pros over discord at all which is why I made a permanent move myself more than a year ago. I'll never go back to skype unless they make some big changes because the way it currently is is unacceptable.
good things ive found: can be very organized with the diff channels. changing accounts for the alias discord game i played was hella easier than when i played on skype. better emotes.
bad things ive found there:
no decent orgs other than that deviantart forum alias org i played but that wasnt a discord community just used discord as a platform. aka nothing for me to do there.
the multiple channels per server can be a hella disoriantating and a hella overwhelming.
Whenever i go on call i have so many problems. always disconnects and cuts out and i can never hear what people say. or it could be the discord server saving me from hearing jp's voice in full.
skype is where the orgs at, the communities at and its straight foward. Which i like. Its comfortable, familiar, straight to the point. there isnt 1000000 emojis youll never use only basic ones. there arent 50000000000000000 channels so you dont get overwhelmed. (plus the notifications kill me inside)
I can see the good in both but personaly skype is all i need. i go on discord when im bored lmfao.
Skype has a lot of bugs/issues and slow performance, and aside from the ICE problem making it impossible for me to hear sometimes in discord calls, discord runs fine. So I prefer discord.
However, I'll go where the people are. For instance with survivor lobby community, the skype and discord chats are like 2 different social circles and I frequent both.
I think with time, discord will be more used than skype. It just takes time for people to change their browsers or whatever. Change feels alien to humans, and it will be inherently rejected when what they currently do works just fine, and that's why, for instance, we hate new layout designs to whatever website we're using. We feel lost and want to go back to what we're familiar & comfortable with.

i use both of them ! i prefer discord for groups and skype for pms, personally. but if i had to choose one i'd choose discord bc it loads immediately whereas skype takes 10 minutes to get its sh/t together when i wanna use it

Ughhh such a hard question. Personally for me, I prefer to use Skype because it's much more fun. But, I can see why people use Discord too. IDK, Discord ORGs seem really weird to me, but I haven't done one so what should I know? LOL
Two other gaming communities I played avidly in all made the jump from skype to discord, so why can't survivor? I basically cosign everything cute said.
