I think Evgenia would have won had she not been injured earlier this season. She may be the crowd favorite but DAMN, can that girl dance.
Super happy Osmond placed in bronze, and it wasn't super close! I'm American but near the border so I've been watching on CBC and her interviews are just precious.
Surprised Alina beat Evgenia in the Short. Personally, I'm glad. Eteri's expression though LOL. She looked so pissed when Alina broke Evgenia's WR in Short.
I personally have no preference to who wins. I agree with you that Alina is technically superior though. Both Alina and Evgenia under-rotate, but at least Alina can do a Triple Lutz with an outside edge. But it seems to me that ISU Judges LOVE over-scoring Evgenia. I got some hope that the judges are gonna be fair this time (after Yuna got robbed) cause they were okay in the men's, but I don't wanna get my hopes up. If you can't tell, I'm a Yuna fan.
Yep. I was really surprised when Shoma missed the first jump, I usually consider him as a really consistent jumper. He's still young though.
I'm curious to see whether or not Yuzu's gonna participate in Worlds, and also about the retirement status of Javi. I love him, but I doubt he's gonna stay in competitive figure skating- I'd be surprised if he participated in the next Olympics. Now that he at least has an Olympic medal, he can retire without regrets (at least, the regrets he had at Sochi).
This figure skating Olympics for men was fun though! The overall rankings were just as I expected, minus Vincent scoring so high, and Nathan's up/down. I think it was okay that Nathan had that up/down moment, he got his redemption. And, I mean, really, I didn't really think he had a shot at podium anyway, especially with those 4 blocking the way. Now I just to wait for Evgenia's gold and Alina's silver. I mean, Evgenia can fumble a double axel and still win.
Yeah, Jin Boyang was good too but Shoma Uno pulled his way through gaining second place. He was the challenger in this competition. Despite his mis landing within the first 15 seconds, he really managed to nail it with the remaining performance.
but yuzu :-) first in short after four month break + injury, what a legend. im v satisfied abt results, all 4 of my favorites in top 4? glad to see isu hasnt rigged men's figure skating yet
